Heading out to our first DVC trip in a couple of weeks, 1 BR at BLT. :cool1: Had a few questions, since I'm new to the experience and have only stayed at traditional hotels at Disney up to this point.

1. Since there is a full kitchen but housekeeping only comes by every few days, do they also provide basic cleaning supplies like Windex, dish soap, sponges, etc. to keep the place looking alright?
2. Same question as to napkins, paper towels, etc.
3. With respect to toiletries, do they still provide soap and shampoo like a traditional hotel, or are we responsible for that?

I'd obviously welcome any other info on things to bring that might not occur to a first timer, too. :)

Thanks!

You will get some dish detergent (enough for several days if not weeks) and a sponge, you will get some individual pouches of dishwasher detergent. If you need more of either, just ask. You will get trash bags (in the bottoms of the trash cans) and paper towels. Same, if you need more just ask. That's about it.

You will get a single use box of laundry detergent on each service day. If you need more, you will need to purchase more or bring them from home.

You will get single bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel for each bathing location (at the tub, stand along shower, combo shower/tub). These are replaced on service days. If you want more, you pay for them.

No Windex, no Chlorox wipes, no napkins.

Remember, if you are staying seven nights or fewer, you will get your towels replaced and trash removed on day four (day one is check in day). If you stay eight nights or more, you get full cleaning on day four and trash and towel service on day 8. If you only stay three nights or less, no service at all.

Great, thank you, very helpful. So, with that in mind, my packing list will include:

  • a small thing of windex
  • some of those purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets
  • salt, pepper and oil/pam

Anything else that you all can think of that you frequently need that doesn't come in the room? It will just be my wife and our two year old -- the little one isn't great in sit-down restaurants, so we're planning a pretty laid back trip where we take plenty of breaks and cook a lot of our own meals in the room, want to make sure we have what we need.

Remember, too, that, although not at the best price, a lot of what you might need is available in the sundries store at the resort. (Bring the Purex sheets though!)

If you are coffee drinkers you will need filter and coffee. The pots are 12 cup 'Mr Coffee' type with the flat bottom filters.
You will get a small supply of sugar, sweetners and crffee mate creamer.

Have a GREAT trip!!!

Yeah, I know, and I don't mind bucking up for something if I need it unexpectedly, but we'll be making a run to a Publix on the way to the resort to get our food and whatever other supplies we might need, so I'm trying to get whatever we can there, since we'll have the opportunity.

Sorry, didn't know you'd have a car. Publix is a much better way to go.

Zip lock and al foil have come in handy for us.

We won't actually have a car, but we'll be with family for a few days prior to checking in, and they are going to run us by the store on our way to the resort to stock up on whatever we might need, so trying to get it all taken care of in one fell swoop. :)

I have a question about the shampoo and conditioner. Is it just the one tiny little bottle of each that you get? Like the same size they offer and fill up daily for cash guests?

If so, I guess we would need to ensure we bring more.

What about toilet paper? I was sure hoping someone would mention it so I wouldn't have to ask! What if you run out of tp? Is that provided or would we need to purchase extra, either from housekeeping for the gift shop?

Yep, same little 1/2 ounce bottles. If you want more, you can bring from home or buy from the resort.

If you need more, just ask for more. You don't have to bring your own or purchase additional.
