I start softball on monday, ver mixed emotions about it! On one hand it is my favorite sport and I LOVE playing it. But on the other that means I will be getting home at 630 at night now and I will have Saturday practices and AKA no life. And my coach is a "badword". Hopefully I will love it all when it starts on monday!

Jeter has helped lead the Yankees to five of their twenty-seven World Series Championships, the newest win being in 2009. Jeter was born in New Jersey and has aspired to be a Yankees player ever since he was young. He finally got to achieve his dream in 1995, when the New York Yankees signed him for his first year ever in the Major Leagues. The Yankees have Derek Jeter’s one and only team in the Major Leagues; he has never played for a different team. Although, before being signed with the Yankees he was turned down by many other teams. Now, those teams are regretting not signing one of baseball’s best players. In his career, Jeter has won five Gold Glove Awards and four Silver Slugger Awards.

Jeter’s a leader, and such an inspiration, in so many ways. Being the Captain of the New York Yankees- a huge deal, since they are one of the most respected baseball teams and also the most wealthy club team- he leads his fellow teammates every day. He also inspires young kids who dream to be baseball players as great as him one day. His leadership skills have been very rewarding, because World Series Championships wins have come from this. Even people who don’t follow or care about baseball find him inspiring and helps them follow their dreams, like he did. Derek also started the Turn 2 Foundation back in 1996. The foundation helps teens to stop/avoid drinking and drug abuse.

Accomplishments of Derek Jeter are quite number some. Besides being the Team Captain and the various awards he has won, he also has been an American League All-Star eleven times, most recently being last year. Jeter has won a Babe Ruth Award and two Hank Aaron Awards. He was also given an award for his efforts in community service. In his first year in MLB he was named the American League Rookie of the Year. Not only has he helped himself by these awards, but he has helped his teammates also. Players who are on the same team as Jeter know that he is going to do everything in his power to help them out, whether it be baseball related or not. He is a very trustworthy person and others look towards him for help, advice, and leadership.

On a personal level, Derek Jeter means a lot to me. I enjoy watching him lead the Yankees during baseball season. He’s such an amazing person and has inspired me to try my hardest and follow my dreams. Of course, I don’t want to be the Captain of the Yankees, but I can relate to him. I have big dreams, just like he did, and if he can accomplish them with hard work than so can I. He is a very effective leader, somehow managing to stay positive and calm under all the pressure that being the leader brings. Jeter is a true inspiration and a real example that hard work pays off. Look where he is now, the Captain of the New York Yankees- you can’t talk to one Major League ballplayer that hasn’t wondered what it’s like to play for the Yankees, let alone be the Captain and Jeter has accomplished this. He is a true leader and I respect him very much.
