OK so with the closure of Pleasure Island in September I am left with a quandry of what to do in the evenings so I was thinking a bit of bar hoping so to speak. Now I've come up with a couple I fancy myself but has anyone got any favourites and why?

Martha's Vineyard Beach Club - They do/did amasing wine flights
River Roost Lounge Port Orleans Riverside
Victoria Falls Animal Kingdom Lodge - gives us an excuse to look around the resort

No favorites that I can name, but let me tell you that before our DD4 was born, we used to enjoy a little more nightlife than we are able to now, and we always found that the bars in the hotels always closed painfully early! We weren't looking to stay up until 2 in the morning either, but several times we were looking for a place to have a drink (the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary come to mind) and it was some time around ten and it was last call at the bars!

I just remembered that the River Roost Lounge did have a wonderful piano player/entertainer that really had the crowd going. The place was packed with all the people waiting to be seated in Boatwrights. He was very lively and the crowd was having fun. That was probably around 8 or 9ish. Not sure if you would still find him there much later than that.

We like:
--Victoria Falls at AKL
--The bar upstairs at the GF behind the band. It's nice to sit up there and listen to the band.

In September, we plan to visit the lounge at the Poly and the Rix lounge at Coronado Springs. I was actually at Coronado Springs a couple of weeks ago for a CPA conference. The Rix Lounge looks awesome and their menu for appertizer side foods looks really good.

Also we were in WDW in Oct, Nov, and Dec for different trips. We stayed at several different WDW resorts and the lounges were all opened until at least midnight sometimes later.

The Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian. I am NOT a bar person at all but felt very comfortable here while waiting to meet up with friends. Very nice servers.

Tambu Lounge at the Poly, and also enjoy ESPN at Boardwalk!

I got a ton of suggestions in this thread:

Even without my beloved AC (or the other places at Pleasure Island) there will still be plenty to do. Plus, there's always the Extra Magic Evening Hours at Epcot and Drinking Around the World! Always a good time. :)

Jellyrolls and ESPN Club on the Boardwalk..

Most of the countries in Epcot (we like Germany and Mexico)

Port Orleans has a great lounge bar. I did not care for the old guy and his skit thing (plays like 3x a week). But the bar, TV's etc are nice and you can always sit outside near the big paddlewheel and relax

Trails End in the campgrounds. Nothing beats sitting on a rocking chair at night, watching people and sipping a beer on the deck

I love the Tambu Lounge at the Poly, try the Island Sunset there, it's delicious.

we enjoy:
House of Blues
Fulton's
Raglan Road
ESPN Club
Jellyrolls
bar next to the Yachtsman Steakhouse (can't remember the name, Crow's Nest?)
Martha's Vineyard in Beach Club
Pop pool bar (really!)
Tambu Lounge in Poly (they even have a big screen tv that they show sports on)
Mizner's Lounge in GF

I am looking forward to trying the new bar at the Wave in the Contemporary

We did not like:
River Roost in POR (we didn't enjoy trying to watch the World Series w/Bob Jackson playing, I know a lot of people like him, but we found him maddening)
the bar off the lobby in the Boardwalk (can't remember the name again!)
Portobello Yacht Club
we were refused service at Flying Fish (we wanted to have drinks and an app at the bar, and were turned away)

We have also experienced, however, some of the resort bars closing quite early, like 10.

I like different bars for different reasons.

To party a bit I would say raglan Road, Jellyrolls, Rose & Crown

To just chill- Victoria falls -AK and Bellview lounge - BW

For sports and beer- ESPN

for frozen drinks and relaxtion- tambu lounge

Both of the Port Orleans bars are great. They have a jazz musician 4 nights a week at the FQ (I don't remember his name, but he was entertaining) and I had a great time watching an NBA playoff game one evening there several years ago. And, you're right, Scat Cat's is a great name for a bar. The River Roost is a favorite with us because of Bob Jackson. We are on his mailing list and can't wait to see him in September. We are reserved people, but we always have fun at his shows. We are planning on going to Jellyrolls on our upcoming trip. We a have heard great things about it and are staying at the BCVs. It will be nice to walk back to our room.
