Bare essentials in the park

"Don't Forget Your Angry Eyes!", said in an annoying high pitched voice. Couldn't help myself!

:rotfl2: "And the monkey chow- for the monkeys of course." :rotfl:

You nailed it! The extended scene in the credits is exactly like trying to pack for everything you might need at DLR. :)

I am definitely in the carry a lot camp. A few other items I take:

antibacterial lotion (to save on having to carry both lotion and hand sanitizer)
lots of ziploc baggies to put stuff in on water rides
motion sickness pills
gum
hair elastics
those mini washcloths that come folded up in super tight squares (fits into your purse easily because so small and can be unfolded if need to dry off after a wet ride - plus they're like 4/$1 so you can throw away after you dry off)

I know exactly what you mean! (And I bet disneymama83 does too!) I get asked for lotion (from my tiny travel bottle). I get asked for Motrin. I get asked for tissue. I get asked for hand sanitizer. On and on. And then, if we are staying at a hotel, I look at what my friend packed and she seems to barely have anything with her - or what she does have with her she manages to seamlessly get into one small overnight bag. Then it dawned on me - why does anyone have to bring anything with them when I have it with me?:rotfl2:

So True - People don't need anything if they are traveling with the "plan ahead" gals such as ourselves:rotfl2:

Personally, I just don't like having to need something, not have it and then go looking for it. I have 3 small boys and a husband so I just have to carry everything, but the kitchen sink with me! I must admit, it's crazy but I carry this stuff with me on a regular basis, not just at DL. :rotfl:

Good idea on the little towels! Just another thing to add to my bag.:rotfl:

Great list guys (and gals)!!! I've updated my parks bag list to include a bunch more stuff.... although I might have to upgrade to a bigger bag :rotfl:

That’s about what I bring except I don’t have Kids, and I would bring more then one bottle of water, well at least one for you your DH and your two kids, you can always refill at the water fountains or the free water station at Rancho Del Zocalo!

Also you are missing, SUNSCREEN!!!

I'd def. bring your lipbalm. That Ca. air does my lips in, can't stand it. And I'd bring a little thing of sunscreen too or at least a hat maybe? Don't forget your sunglasses. Have fun~!!!

I carry a little credit card holder that clips onto my shorts, and has room for park hopper, ID, credit card, and a twenty dollar bill. I carry a packet of wipes in my shorts pocket. Usually, I carry my camera, but after lugging it all around Europe this summer, I am going to leave it home this trip.

And thats all.

Wow, some of these lists makes me wonder if all those strollers are truly for kids or just hauling stuff around the Park. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

For a day in the Park, this list posted above just about covers it:

Money/cc
Cell phone
Camera
Lipbalm
Bottle of water

I would add:
ID
a few advil in a ziplock bag shoved in a pocket
trail mix or a little "munchie" of choice if you want something other than park snacks.

That's it.

A few notes:
- Extra batteries for camera, depends upon what kind your camera needs (AA vs. rechargeable)
- Sunscreen - put it on before. If you easily burn, the above mentioned clip-on bottle is great (they sell travel-size too)
- Hand-sanitizer - I just don't get it. We went EVERYWHERE as a kid and didn't worry about hand-sanitizer. I think we are just raising a generation of kids who have no anti-bodies to anything. If you MUST have it, I guess it's yours to find an empty pocket somewhere.

- Dreams

We are flexible based on what we're doing. We are a family of four: me, DH, DS8, and DS10.

Everyone wears their own hat and pin lanyard or bag.
DH and I carry ID, APs, credit card, cash, cell phones on our persons.
DH can slip the camera into his pocket.

If we are going to the park for only a few hours and likely going to eat some park food, this is it! No other stuff. We only do this occasionally though. I guess we just feel more secure lugging around all the stuff listed below.

We fill one backpack that DH and I switch off carrying. Depending on weather, where we are based, and what activities we have planned for the day, we will carry the following additional items inside:

3 or 4 water bottles (can always refill)
4 apples and 4-8 crunchy snacks (cracker thing, granola bar, peanuts, potato chips, something like that), sometimes 1 or 2 Crystal Lite flavor packets for the kids
sunscreen (always, always, no matter the season. DS8 has red hair and really fair skin; and the rest of us look pretty pale too :))
small tube each Motrin and Tylenol
travel-size Tums
chapstick
a few band-aids of various sizes
Kleenex
leftover Disneyland napkins from previous trips
hand-sanitizer. We often don't bother using it, but if I want to get the kids' hands "wet" when we're not near water, it's a quick solution.
couple empty baggies for putting things in during water rides
empty garbage bag for covering backpack during Grizzly River Run
baggie with quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies for smashing machines

One of the following categories:
sweatshirt (preferably hooded) for each person (only in non-summer months, otherwise I tell everyone it's really not that cold even at 10 PM, even if it is ;))
poncho for each person in the group only if rain is almost certain, and then everyone has to wear the sweatshirts all day or tie them around waists or leave them behind
towel or blanket for the ground or to wrap up in, only if there is space since we're not carrying the clothing items. And we usually get this wrong, carrying it only on days that don't turn out cold and that we don't stay for a night-time show and then not having it with us when we stay for the 2nd Fantasmic the next night and get all damp and chilled.

We also have a reusable, packable Disney shopping bag clipped to the backpack's zipper tab which I've only remembered to use once.

Totally agree! If you are talking about "Bare Essentials" then:

- Room Key (no need money)
- Park Hopper
- Phone (even this is optional)

Everything else can be fixed by going; to first aid, the restroom, or back to your room!

No Camera - Photopass
No Hand Sanitizer - Go to the restroom and wash your hands, it works better
No Pain Killers - Go to first aid, or back to your room

:rotfl2::rotfl2:The phone is necessary because I always end up meeting friends in DLR and we have to talk during the day to establish a meeting spot or to communicate if they are running late. I don't like to talk on the phone at all, but we do have to touch base here and there during the day.

I love and use PhotoPass but there are too many things I take photos of at DLR that PhotoPass cannot cover, so a camera is absolutely mandatory.

Sometimes you may have just eaten and want to quickly clean off your hands without bothering with a bathroom at that moment. Hence, the hand sanitizer or Splash n Go wipes.

And no way in hades am I waiting to schlep all the way back to a hotel room (if I even have a hotel room) to get my Motrin when I am in pain - especially if the plan is to stay in the park. If I have it with me in my bag, and I have water in my bag, I am whipping out the pain reliever right there on the spot and putting myself out of my misery!!:rotfl2: Plus, I hate to say it but First Aid does not give out as much stuff as you'd think they do. They either don't give it out for free, they don't have it in stock or they don't give you exactly what you know you need. A couple of different times my friends have gone in there and they were either sent away and told where to go buy something, or they were given something that was not really effective.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

But I admire the ones who can get away with taking so few things with them to DLR!:rotfl2:

I use a small bag, too, and this is what's in there"

Small wallet
phone
lip gloss
camera (actually, I'm a dork and wear it around my neck)
extra camera battery

Hey corgi... where is your trip report?

It's coming :) I just got back late Monday night and it's been work, work, work ever since!

I have to get past Step 1, unloading the camera.

Btw, the PoC ship was docked at Heeia Pier in Kaneohe last night. There is a public viewing area - super cool!
