Bare Escentuals

I'm 47, olive skin, been using BE for forever and love most. As others, I don't use the eyeshadows (I do like them though), I travel for work quite a bit and hard to manage and carry. I've tried the lotions, moisturizer (ok - switched back to philosophy), Neck lotion is FABULOUS, Eye - ok was a little too irritating for me. I've bought where everyone else does, Nordies, QVC (does have the best kit values), Sephora and BE stores
BE gives you a card - spend $ and they give something (don't know what yet) I like to order online.
If anybody's figured out the eyeshadow issue, please share:)

I've been using it for a few years now. One day my SIL came by before work and as she walked up to my door I said "Oh, your skin looks so good." She got all excited because she was using BE for the first time. I ran out and bought it the next day:thumbsup2

I do not wear makeup, but I shop ultra beauty. They have some good deals and coupons there. They also have a reward card. to get the reward card an coupons here is their number. 1-800-968-5823.

I have been a BE user for over 10 years and would never ever put another foundation on my face.

I'm in my mid 30's and I've been using it for a year. I absolutely love it!

I am not really a make-up wearer but I wanted something easy to use, that looked natural, and would last. BE fits the bill. The first day I wore it, I was in 80+ degree temps with high humidity and it did not run or rub off. One of the things I truly hate about make up is that I can't be near my husband without it getting on him if it's hot and I don't have that problem with BE.

As previously mentioned, QVC is awesome for kits.

If you want to try it without making a huge commitment, they now have a kit called the Newbie Complexion Kit (Sold on the BE website or at the BE stores) - you get all of the same items as in the Get Started kit in a small size. You only get one brush, but it will give you a chance to try it out.

You can also go into Sephora and ask for a sample. One thing a lot of people do not know is that Sephora will give you samples of anything in the store.

I am really happy with BE. I've worn it for special occasions and in my day to day life and I'll never go back to drug store brands.

I went to a Bare Escentuals store last night to get a "makeover."
I really didn't care for the color the lady chose for me-golden medium. It looked YELLOW in the jar, and I'm not sure if I like it on my face. Maybe it just takes some time getting used to?? I didn't end up buying anything...

when i went for a makeover the first time, they used 'light' foundation on me and I thought it was too dark, too. I think they used that because that's what's in the kit, they didn't have one with 'fair'. I bought the kit but later switched to 'fair' and I like it a lot better.

I actually didn't like my makeover, the blush was dark too. But ended up liking the product a lot in th end

OH...........BE!!! Love, love, love it. I am 42 and use this almost exclusively, except for the mascara. I use the matte in light and medium beige in the summer. If you like eye stuff........you just wait, cant beat the selection of colors. Also, Leslie is awesome!!

I tried the mineral veil with sunscreen this time, I don't care for it. I like the concept but it's got color to it and not sure I like that

i'd used BE for years, and bought everyday minerals about 2 years ago.
i found BE was a bit heavy looking (coarse grain) and EM a bit too light (very fine grain) so combined the two for a more natural look (not cakey), and better coverage.

but about a year ago, i found smashbox halo, and now only use it ($60 for the compact with brush). many ppl who try halo do switch, as it has the best of all worlds: great coverage, natural looking, very long wearing (beat both other brands by a lot there). halo doesn't have the QVC team, dedicated stores, or slick marketing; it's just a great product. sephora and ulta can do a makeover if you want to try halo out.

it does cost a bit more, but my skin looks sooooooo much better than with the other brands - it's worth every penny:)
(btw, i'm still using my first compact after over a year of daily use).

what products do you use with it, like is there a mineral veil?

while i do have the mineral veil, i rarely ever used it, with BE or halo. halo is still a powder that needs to be applied with a kabuki brush, but its consistancy and look on skin is different. it has a different container also; you turn the compact a bit and the exact quantity you want is dispensed, so there is less waste and it doesn't get all over. i use either a serum in winter, or gel in summer as a primer (i switched to the monistat antichaffing gel - it really works, and is, the exact same gel primer as smashbox makes, for a lot less money:banana:). i love studio gear brushes (retain their softness and form, no shedding or choppy hairs, easy to clean, guaranteed for life), and only use them for any cosmetic application.

you can use the veil with either product, i just found it too "ghostly" for my pasty white skin ;)

Love Bare Minerals! *LOL*

I've been using it--over 15 years, probably closer to 20 years! I am *mature* (aka "senior" per AARP!). My skin is very fair (charter member of the burn, peel & freckle club) and a bit on the dry side these days.

I find the Bare Escentuals skin care products don't suit my skin very well. And I can't wear mascara--no matter who makes it! :(

But I do love the BM foundation, blush, highlighter and mineral veil. Depending on what my skin is doing, I use Fair or Fairly Light. Fair has more of a pink undertown and Fairly Light shades toward yellow/gold. It just depends on what my skin is doing each day. Sometimes I combine the two for just the right shade! *LOL* I also like Bisque as a concealer--I do not love my freckles! I have both the original and tinted Mineral Veil. Some days I use Mineral Veil as a primer--apply it lightly before the Bisque and foundation--as well as for finishing.

While I like the eye shadows, I rarely wear them these days. Between contacts (RGP--Rigid Gas Permeable) and my eyes being naturally dry these days, eye shadow doesn't stay on well. :confused3

I do like SmashBox eye liner. :) Mine is the original putty type and it stays on fairly well. I introduced my BFF to Bare Minerals a few years ago (light olive complexion) and SmashBox eye liner (newer gel) just last year. She loves both!

DD16 uses BE and loves it. It looks great on her skin.

I don't like BE for myself, I'm 37. The limited color selection doesn't suit my skin tone. I either look ghostly or orange. I've had the makeover at the store and it took two employees many, many tries to mix the right color. I use Everyday Minerals. They have a much better color selection.

While BE is probably the most marketed there are a lot of companies out there. Most give or sell samples. If you're unsure load up on samples and give them all a try.
