Barcelona, Spain Hotels...Any Suggestions?

Some will have ensuite. There are still some that don't but they will tell you if you look online and Im sure all the Disney ones are ensuite

We are heading out on the Mediterranean Cruise on DCL in May and are arriving in Barcelona for a couple days prior to the cruise. Have five in the party so we need two hotel rooms. I have never been to Barcelona so I don't know the city. Looking for something with a location where we can still tour the parts of the city that we, as tourists, would want to see (rather than staying in, say, the financial district) and without having to pay a fortune for the hotel rooms. Any suggestions? Hotel names? Locations I should drift toward? Help!

Without trying to be rude...there are several threads on this already, at least one is many pages long with LOTS of hotel suggestions.

I've never been to BCN before, so I've been copying down the suggestions--scroll back a couple pages or do a search; the long one is a fairly active thread with LOTS of great ideas.

Don't book your advance days thru DCL--their hotel rates are thru the roof!

I would stay in the Plaza Catalunya area- the famous plaza in the heart of Barcelona , hard rock there, the tourist bus starts there, la Ramabla there, and on the transport network hub. Cystal palace by Eurostars is very good, for families try an apartment.

Below are some links to a few Apartment-style hotels that can accommodate larger families.

The hotels in the following links offer adjoining (not connecting) Triple and double rooms. Usually these room combos can't be booked online - phone call or email.

Don't forget Casa Camper.

It's #2 ranked hotel on tripadvisor. Check it out, but book early it fills up!

I know many people stayed at the Hilton Del Mar back in 07 (it was a Disney recommended resort). Deb from All ears has a mini review in her 2007 med trip blog. I am looking into it for May.

Since there are several threads on Barcelona hotels I am merging the 3 main ones.

we booked a lovely apartment that overlooks the harbour, reasonably priced and we will see her from our balcony:thumbsup2

All cause my dad is obsessed with boats!

To all our past and future med cruisers. Has anyone used this hotel. What did you think of it. Does disney offer hotel transfers from the airport and to the cruise terminal. If so do you know what they are charging for transfers. Thanks Cindy

I personally do not like the location of this hotel, its to the east of Barcelona, I like to be able to go out for a walk at night and walk around the highlights so hotels more centrally located are better for me.

Placa Catalunya area is best imho for hotels as thats where the tourist buses start two routes, and also there is a train and bus hub there, also both from the airport, and you can walk down La Rambla, and also the Hard rock cafe is there.

DCL does offer transfers to/from the Airport to Port and also its approved hotels but its so easy to do it yourself with Barcelona's impressive public transport system thats fully integrated.

I am going to merge this thread with the existing Barcelona thread to keep all the hotel discussions in one place.

Have any of you considered Priceline?? I'm not sure if Barcelona participates, but when we travelled to London 3 years ago I spent a month playing the 'game' at Priceline...there are websites that show you how to keep bidding until you get what you want, I probably spent about 2 dozen attempts, but finally my offer was accepted at less than a third of what the hotel advertised...it was a 4 star, right across the street from Hyde Park and fit our family of five...(we booked two rooms)

As long as you stick to 4 star or above, you can get a room for around $65-$75 a night...with London it was separated into zones so I was able to only focus on hotels in Kensington....Barcelona may be different....

Considered, yes. Done it, not so far. Barcelona definitely has hotels listed in several "areas."

It does seem far out of the way. Probably why the price is so good! lol!

We used Priceline for the 09 EBTA because we needed 2 rooms each night for DH and our kids. I booked it a couple of months ago and it was about 500 including taxes for the 2 rooms for 2 nights. The 4 star hotel we received was the Silken Gran Havana which looks like it's in a good location. I would have preferred the new W hotel or the Hotel Arts or something nicer but we figured we'd be spending enough on the trip already we couldn't justify it.
