Barbershop in MK

The pictures of the kids (9 mo boy) and Brenne are just adorable. (Mom, tell Brenne I thought she was Arial herself!) Thanks for sharing them with us!:teeth: I have consulted DS6 and DS4 and they have spoken in no uncertain terms that they will NOT be getting pixie dust at WDW. I may have to bribe them with HotWheels-it works every time. Now about Daddy......I don't think he would do it unless the Queer Eye guys came to our house and took it over. But if he does, I would save the tail for Locks of Love......::yes::

You guys ask all the right questions! I've been growing my hair out for my wedding in June. It's driving me nuts! I'm totally gonna get it cut on my honeymoon at disney. Maybe I can talk DF into a shaved mickey on the back of his head!

We took our grandson last year for his first haircut. He was 1 1/2 and he cried so hard when I put him in the chair I was ready to say forget it. Billie was so great with him! She played with the toys and put little Mickey stickers all over him. She took all the time he needed to settle down before she started cutting. Austin also received a certificate and mouse ears for his first haircut and all of us...Papa, Grandma, Great Aunt and Great Grandma received free pixie dust! I even talked DH into a haircut!

Crazywig and Chim Chiminy, thank you for posting your WONDERFUL photos! Oh, my goodness. That barbershop looks simply MAGICAL!

My DD7 and DS9 had their hair cut in Dec. My son had green gel and a mickey head on the back of his head. Michal used green because we were going to MVMCP that night. We had an hour wait.

Billie gave my daughter a bob haircut. She took about 25 minutes with her by the time she put in castle clips and pixie dust. She didn't want colored gel so Billie used a clear gel so the PD would stick to it.

My children still talk about it. It was a magical moment for them. They liked other kids getting their parents to ask them where they had their hair done. My children enjoyed this more than a character meal.

***I thought this was funny. A first time mother and father wanted their son's first hair cut done at the barbershop. The mother started quizzing Michal about saving his hair. She even asked him if he had ever given a first hair cut. He said, "maybe about 10,000 of them." Billie started laughing and so did everyone in the barbershop.

I am definitely going to do this.

Since this is an older thread, has anyone done it recently?

I've not cut my hair for the last month and I feel like a crazy hippie right now but I'm waiting for MK!

I got my hair cut at the MK barbershop for the first time in Dec 2003. I had read about the shop on the DIS - but hadn't found the barbershop in our trips to MK before.

The shop itself is smallish - not alot of room for many guests to wait - I think 4 or 5 chairs, but there are toys for the kids to play with while waiting etc.

It's an old-time barbershop - the kind you don't find anymore, very quaint with the panelling and old style barber chairs, and an antique cash register. It was a great way to relax and sit in MK and visit with the CM barber!!

I'll admit he didn't really have a difficult job with my thinning locks :p but if you need a quick trim, it fits the bill. And it makes a great memory!! My DS5 got a kick out of the pixie dust and things in dad's hair afterward!!

If you're planning on going during your trip - it's one more magical thing to look forward to!!

Both my boys got haircuts there in Sept. Ryan, my 1 y/o got his first haircut. Adam, my 3 y/o got a blue Mickey head in the back of his hair & pixie dust

The shop is now near the fire station at the front of Main Street & only has 2 chairs. It's also near where the parades enter & exit, as well as a lot of characters come & go, so you can catch characters while you wait.

Hey, I'm 46 and make a point to get my hair cut there whenever we are at WDW. Not only is the price reasonable, they do a much better haircut than any of the stylists in my little town. And sprinkles are just fun. :)

Agreed Chuck, my dh always gets a haircut there. Great prices, and the barber (Michael? Help me out here. He's been there forever) does a classy professional job. Yeah, they toss a few sprinkles at him but he just does it for the haircut.

I think prices went up though. He paid $17
(plus tip) on our trip last month.

Hi all~

Just wanted to let you know that if you just want the gel and pixie dust they will do it for $5.

I was thinking I paid $17 in June, also. Still a good price for a great cut. And yes, Michal has been there a long time, and even remembers a lot of clients from visit to visit.
