I want to know more about the barber shop. My daughter will have just turned 3 when we go and she has yet to have her first offical hair cut (we have trimmed her bangs but that is it).

Is it truely a barber shop or is there someone there who can do a good job on a little girl?

How hard is it to get in?

I would love to hear any of your thoughts.

We got our boys' haircut last fall at the barbershop, it was fun! My baby (15 months then) got his first haircut, and my 3-yo just had his hair cut and they put in "pixie dust"....he had a blue mickeyhead drawn on the back of his head and they used sprinkles and confetti....really cute. I'd post the pic, but I don't know how.

For the first haircut, DS got a certificate saying he had his first haircut, etc., and a pair of Mickey ears that have "first haircut" embroidered on the back. Both boys got tons of stickers, mommy got tons of pictures, and everyone was happy!

There were little girls getting haircuts there too, it's just first come first serve. I don't remember the name of the lady who cut their hair, i think it was Billie or something.....I have it in my scrapbook though. We went right around noon and waited probably about a half an hour. There are only two stations and two people working, it's a small place. She gave me DS' baby hair to keep too.

I'd love to do it again this year with them, just depends on time.

HTH, Steph

My DD and DS had their hair cut there last year. DD has a simple haircut so the lady (I forget her name) just trimmed DD's bangs and the back before she pulled the sides up in cute little princess clips. Then both kids had their colored the hair and sprinkled "pixie dust". The kids LOVED it and already asked if we can do it again. The worst part was trying to get the color and confetti out of their hair!!! I think it was $14 which is not much more than we pay for the kids here at home.

We are planning 3+ days in MK, I think I'll try to get my dd hair cut there just to give her something really really specially. Okay it would be special for me to have her hair cut there and get pixie dusted and all cutsie.

Well my DH has decided that this is the number one thing he wants to do at Disney.

I hope my DD's hair can hold out until December (just turned one), so she can have her first hair cut at Disney, how special.

does anyone know if the barber shop is open during all normal park hours? Like if we get there after dinner, would we still be able to get in? thanks!

The barbershop is open 9am-5pm 7days a week. It's first come first serve, best times to go are right when they open, during parade times. There are only 2 barbers so the line can get pretty long.

Adults $17 and children $14, color and pixie dust included in the price if so desired. Tips are welcome.

We do this every time we go to WDW. We purposely don't cut the kids' hair for 3 months beforehand so it'll be nice and ready for a haircut when we get there! :rotfl:

They love going to the barbershop.

thanks for the reply, even though it isn't what I wanted to hear... :rotfl2:
(I wanted to do it that first night!! waaaah!)

ohh, wait! we have dinner at Chef Mickey's....if we get there early enough, maybe we can get it done BEFORE dinner and then go back to MK after dinner!! :Pinkbounc
(aren't you all glad that I'm thinking out loud here :rotfl2: )

Did you have to bring the princess clips or could you buy them there?

We are planning to do this. I am trying to hold out but DS's (almost 1 ) hair is really long now!

I had DS2 done there on our trip. It was one of the few things I really wanted to do there. I must say I was pretty surprised. I read here it was first come first serve and could be crowded but we walked in around noon on a Friday and there was no one there (of course there were 4 characters signing out in the square). I had to ask if they were open:) We had a wonderful man named Michal (at least that what it looks like his name badge says) he did a great cut and even chased DD4 around the shop with the water spray bottle throwing Mickey confetti at her LOL. Make sure you ask if you can take a picture. When he was done, Michal set DS up with a alfalfa sprout and got out these huge scissors and posed. If I knew how to post it, I would :)

As you come into the park it's on the left, next to the fire station. You'll see the barber pole out front

We went in December for DGD's first haircut and the line was soooo long. We waited about half an hour and the line barely moved. We finally gave up, as she didn't have much hair then. So, we went back in May and got it accomplished. It was so much fun. She was pretty shaggy by then but I sure am glad Mommy waited.

The Barber Shop is great! We were there last Wednesday and there was a long line......it was hot and we didn't wait. On Sunday we had an 8:00 PS at Crystal Palace. We left Crystal Palace around 8:50 and headed straight for the barber shop. (The park didn't open until 9:00 a.m. that day) We arrived right when they opened and we were the first ones there.

I was on a mission!! My son is 9 months old and really needed a hair cut. I was determined to have his first haircut in Disney and I am so glad I did it!!!

The barber was Michael and he was great with my baby. He did save the hair and added "pixie dust" to it. My son also came home with an adorable certificate and mickey ears. The experience was well worth the $14.00.

My DH videotaped the whole thing and I love watching the tape. If you can get in early in the morning.......go for it!

I will cherish the memory and the videotape forever! :)
