We will be leaving for Disney shortly and my son needs a hair cut. Don't have time here, so I want to have it done at the barber shop on main street.

Do you make an appointment or do you just walk in and what are the hours.

Also, anyone know what the prices are?

Thanks,
Dawn

Sorry that I don't have the answer for you Linlo, but there are people on our Theme Parks Board who might.

So I am moving this over there for you. :)

I believe there is another thread on this somewhere.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you had to wait in line and I think it is around $15 for a haircut.

Here's a bump up to the top so more informed people can tell you!

We had our DD age 2 have her first haircut in Disney. It was around $15. You can't make an appointment, you have to wait.
Your best bet is to get there when the park opens. We were the 3rd ones there and only waited about 15 min, otherwise it can
be a long wait.

Don't forget the camera!

It's WELL-WORTH the $15, take the time to go to the Barber Shop!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I had my son's first haircut done in the Magic Kingdom. He was just over 1 and by the time we went he REALLY needed a haircut. I was SO glad I waited though. They make it a lot of fun - give you a certificate, hat and a swatch of hair and pose for lots of pictures (with giant scissors).

My daughter needed a haircut at the same time so I got hers cut too. They sprinkled fairy dust on her after they cut it.

I don't remember the cost, but I wouldn't have done the second one if it was too expensive.

You can't make appointments, but we went during Thanksgiving week 2000 (the park was very busy) and went mid-day and only had to wait for one person before us.

We went the first day we were at Disney so he has a nice new haircut in all the pictures. It was well worth it and just another kind of Disney Moment - I would highly recommend it!

I saw a little boy with his parents on the monorail on Mother's Day this year. The father and son had haircuts done at MK. It was so cute, they had the pixie dust, BLUE hair, the little boy even had matching sunglasses. Not sure about wait or cost, but we even took a picture of the little boy, after asking permission, of course. So adorable. :D

My 2 DS had their hair cut last Nov. It was $12. Just beware of the pixie dust. They loved having it in their hair, but I really didn't want all their pictures to have blue and green hair in them, so by noontime we went into a bathroom and washed it out. It was alot of fun though. We went first thing in the morning and only had to wait for one other person ahead of us. Cruella de Vil came in while we were getting their cuts and stayed for a long time and chatted.
This year I'm trying to hold out for my DS first haircut in Dec, except he will be 28 months by then! My DH thinks he needs a cut now, but his hair is so blonde and fine I may just make it til Dec!
Anyway, have fun and do go to the barber shop!

Where exactly on Main Street is the Barber Shop? I've been to the Magic Kingdom many times and I don't remember ever seeing a barber shop. What does it look like inside, is it set up like an old-fashioned barber shop in the Main Street U.S.A. theme or is it like a regular barber shop? I think my dd would love to get some pixie dust in her hair, can you just get that done, or do you have to get a cut with it?

Thanks for any answers!

The Barber Shop is across from the firehouse, next to the horse stables and the parade entrance. We went during the afternoon before the parade and there were about 3 people in front of us. I think the adults price is $15. and $12. for children. DD had loads of fun putting LOADS of pixie dust in DH's hair. There was no time to add color for each since there were about 6 people after us. They are both looking forward to haircuts again in Aug., as well as our friends that are going with us.
DD had pixie dust and the MM Americana hair clips in her hair.

We went in April and it is still $12. My DS got the red gel and pixie dust it was great. We went around 2 and had 2 people in line ahead of us, but by the time we got the cut done we walked outside and we were in a perfect location to catch the parade. Could'nt have worked out better. Get your kids to ask about the old phone. The woman cutting my DS's hair told him it was used by Walt and showed him that it still works.

Does anyone know if the Barbershop opens early? We are planning to get to Main Street before the park opens to eat breakfast, etc. I'm afraid when my 3 yo gets into the park, he won't want to sit still for a haircut.

I've only recently made getting a haircut at MK a new tradition. I had heard about it, had heard it was fun, but never bothered with it. Now, during my last two or three visits, I've made it a point to get a haircut.
It really is a good time. The folks that work in the shop have a great sense of humor, and they do great work! And as far as I'm concerned, $15.00 for a man's haircut is a steal.
As for how long one must wait, it's pretty touch and go. At times, there are waits of an hour or longer. I would suggest you go in the morning just after the park opens and make it your first stop. If there aren't too many folks ahead of you, it shouldn't take too long.
And by the way, they DO cut ladies' hair too.

My DH & DS just got their hair cut last week, & yes it was $12 for kids and $15 for adults. We just stopped in right around lunch time and had 2 in front of us. There were 2 barbers and they are pretty fast, not much of a wait at all. I don't know the exact hours they are open, but I do know that they were not open in the evening.
The temporary hair coloring is great! My DS came out with orange tips with pixie dust. Boy did he get the attentions walking through the park. Just beware that if you do it on a rainy day, it will run.
