hi all

my DS10 wants to get his haircut in the magic kingdom , do we need an appointment??? thanks

No, they do not take appointments.

When we were there getting DS's first haircut (DH got his hair cut at the same time) they were happy to give me and my sister in law a bit of Pixie Dust in our hair - complimentary - so, don't be afraid to ask! (glitter stuff and then hairspray to help hold it in - brushed out easily - bit tricky to get out of hair if you have french braids in though...LOL)

They are the BEST there! I love Harmony Barber Shop! :)

You don't need an appt and it's definitely fun to stop there! Has become a tradition in our family. :)

Our kids loved having their hair done. We went first thing in the morning and were the first customers. We were amazed at how many people don't know about this experience. My son, then 2, had his hair spike up with Peter Pan green gel with tons of "pixie dust" (mickey heads and glitter) and the girls got fancy do's with blue and green gel and "pixie dust". They got a lot of attention that day!

It did take more than usual elbow grease to get the gel out of their hair. The tub was filled with Mickey heads and glitter. We scooped it out so it wouldn't get clogged...the kids saved some of it in their pockets and little bags. It seemed like we would find it every once in a while to remind us of our trip!

We went a couple different times and there was a line. Finally the 3rd time, we just waited. It was about an hour wait. There were only 2 ladies in there as there is only two hair cutting stations in that small area. But it was worth the wait. Here's a couple snapshots. We did not opt for the colored gel or the sprinkles. But we did get a certificate and a little packet of his hair clippings and some sprinkles of mickey heads. Also mouseears that said first haircut. We paid $14 plus tip. They would not allow us to use our credit card, only cash.

That's really odd! We paid with credit card (well, checking card, but same difference as far as they're concerned) and they did not allow for a tip.
That was this past May.

Here's DS's first professional haircut...

(It wasn't as tight/short in back as I would have liked, but that was easy enough for me to take care of back home - I used to be a cosmetologist so I know the ins and outs of cutting hair - If I didn't have the skill, I'd have been asking him to cut it more.)

We had to pay cash as well. The last time we were there, they still hadn't gotten a credit card machine. Their phone is even very old. And a tip...yes we did give one. With the amount of attention they give their customers, they *so* deserve it! :)

Seeing these pictures make me so sad!! We had my daughter's first haircut there on the 23rd of Sept. About one hour later, we rode the Tomorrowland Transportation ride to try to get our 2 kids to sleep and we lost our camera. Therefore, I have ZERO pictures of my little girls first haircut (plus Halloween party pics the night before, her first meeting w/ Donald, etc.). We reported it lost but it was never turned in. It has really bothered me that someone would keep a camera found in good ole' magic kingdom.

But, on topic, the Barber Shop is great. We did have to wait but were able to lots of characters coming & going through the character entrance nearby.

Hmmm, I wonder why the difference between cash & credit cards. We were there the 3rd week of September.

AHhh, yes! The stickers!! I almost forgot to mention the stickers! The ladies at the shop gave the kids such a long strip of Mickey stickers--even after they plastered them all over the kids' shirts. We had those stickers forever. Thanks for the snapshots, Hoosier Mom.

We have been to Disney for all 4 of our kids first birthday. Our 4th was finally a boy. On his birthday we had his first hair cut done in the Magic Kingdom. The gave him a certificate a clip of hair and mickey ears the said first haircut. All for $15 plus tip. The kept him occuppied by putting stickers all over him he was so busy pulling them off his hair was cut before he knew it. Since then we have his hair cut each time we go. 2 of our DD's had there hair done fancy and with the gel and pixie dust for only $5.00 each which is a far cry to what they charge to get your hair done at the Bibbiddy bobbidy boo boutique that seems to be all the rage for little girls right now. As far as lines get there early.
