Does anyone know about the barbershop in MK? how much? i read something on another thread about taking dc there for their first hair cut.
Is it really a 'barber' shop - would i be fine to take my DD there. She has shortish fine curly hair (biracial) and just needs a trim

thanks

I can't remember the price, but it wasn't that unreasonable. My Mom decided to "trim" my daughters hair while we were at WDW. So, we went to the barber (I had planned on it prior to my Mom's actions) and he had to give her Audrey Hepburn bangs. Thanks Mom!

There was a women in the barber shop as well. So, I wouldn't hesitate to bring in your daughter for a trim.

They do a fun finish (sparkles, or gel, or both). It is really cool.

Good Luck!

We take my DD every year (she has been 3x). they do hair trims and it is around $14 to have a cut. My only piece of advice it getting there at rope drop or during hte parades because the lines get very long.

I've seen plenty of girls in there for trims.

Brought my sons last week...still $14.

We took DD for her first haircut there in May. She was 10 months old at the time. The barber (Michael) was soo good with her. He kept all of her hair and wrapped it up for us and gave us more mickey stickers and confetti. To keep her sitting still he used light-up toys and stickers. I have pictures here somewhere...At the end, you get a pair of mickey ears for your little one that say first haircut on the back and a certificate as well. It's a ton of fun. We did wait a while so make sure to get their early or to plan on the wait. It was $14 (you can tip if you'd like :thumbsup2)

FYI....tipping has to be in cash. They can now charge the cut to your room or credit card (they could always do credit since I've been going, but room charge is new). But they can't put tip on the charge.... so cash or disney dollars.

This was the main highlight of taking my son to MK last year for his FIRST haircut (he was fifteen months at he time) on Mainstreet! IT was really special and he was so proud with himself after getting it done. They did a great job at keeping his attention with tons of Mickey stickers. fIt was 14 for the cut and we got a certificate, First Haircut ears, a lock of his hair, and some of the best pictures! I recommend it, but get there at rope drop...it is first come first served! They were doing girls and boys cuts...and a few adults too. Enjoy :)

This was a highlight of our families' last trip!!!! It was my ds(2)'s first haircut. He got the cutest pair of Mickey Ears with first haircut on the back of them! Plus, the barber shop quartet came in to perform while we were there. Did we have a long wait? Yes. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!!!

Oh, and our barber was Norma and she was wonderful! :goodvibes

LOVED IT!

We got both DD5 and DS2's first haircuts this past September!

Thanks Miss Penny!

We love the barber shop. My two little ones got their first haircuts there last year. Our oldest just got the color/confetti ($7.50 or free with a haircut). This year it was a must-do for our trip.

Totally unrelated... but AKADrea was your family there this May? I think we saw you when we were boarding the safari. My kids were wearing their mickey tie-dye shirts and were really excited to see a family also wearing some.

Do they make you wait in the shop, or do they give you buzzers or something?

DH & I were discussing doing this for the boys this trip. I just dont know if I can hold out till then...their hair is getting shaggy IMO.

You stand in line outside. It is very tiny (only two chairs), so there's really only room for the families who are getting the haircuts to stand inside.

what time of day did you go? was there much of a wait?

We've gone in the morning (but not right at rope drop) both times we've been. We waited 15-20 minutes, but I don't know that you can really tell how long the wait will be by how many people are standing there. There could be some just getting color/confetti, it could just be one child in a group that's actually getting a haircut, or it could be every member of a family.

We had our boys hair cut on our trip this September. We got there at rope drop, and we were the second family in line. Everyone cutting hair that day was female. Miss Penny cut our youngest son's hair. It was his first hair cut, and it was a great experience for him. The lady in the chair next to Penny cut our oldest son's hair, and she did a great job. She put the blue gel and "harvest" dust in his hair. The boys absolutely loved their experience. We are so glad we did it. Our youngest got his first haircut hat and certificate. Our oldest was happy with his blue "doo".

Next trip to Disney, we will be taking our boys again. That was an experience we won't be forgetting, and my oldest son is asking if I can take him there for his next hair cut. (Poor thing! It won't happen that fast.)

My DS has been 3 times for his 1st, 2nd, and 4th haircuts. We've found that going right before the parade starts works better for us than going at rope drop. We've never had much of a wait at this time; it seems like if you try to go at rope drop, if you're not RIGHT THERE you're waiting no matter what. We also went once shortly before they were closing, about 4:45, and no one was in there.
In case you're wondering, it's only $17 for adults ;)

Miss Penny cut DDs hair in August this year (first haircut). She is simply wonderful!! Miss Mary cut DSs hair and gave him the funky blue gel spikes, glitter on top and red MM on the back.

We were there in September! I was excited to see other tie dye Mickey's there too though! I totally forgot to get my lime green mickey heads to put on our bags though DOH!

Oh, we wound up getting there right as a morning parade was about to start, so we didn't have to wait at all! :woohoo:
