Barbara Walters Special on Heaven

I hadnt heard about it but thanks :) Ill have to check it out.

I watched it. I found it quite interesting. As an Evangelical (Southern Baptist persuasion), I found Ted Haggard's explanation kind of odd. Did you catch that? He said he believes Jesus is the only way to be assured of heaven but others must work it out on their own. Huh?! Never heard that before. Wonder where he gets that from? :confused3

I also thought what the suicide bomber and the Muslim cleric said was rather interesting. Their idea of heaven seems to involve a lot of sex! Interesting...

I thought that the Haggard guy was being PC. Clearly Biblical teaching doesn't teach that you "work it out". :confused3 I did catch that for sure.

I also thought it was interesting about the sex in Heaven. I'll be honest in wondering why the heck it is such a big deal for either the males or females to want virgins so badly they'd kill themselves and others to "get" them. Whatever.
But truly the ideas of the suicide bomber and the cleric were very different in many other ways. I tivoed it so I can watch it again and really go over the different thoughts.

It was a great show. I had my children watch it so they would have a broader view of how many different religions and people think about spiritual things.

I watched it too, missed the first hour though.

I found it to be very interesting.

From time to time, I always seen "the near death experience" about being positive of Heaven, God, etc.

What about seeing Hell???? I never once saw an interview with a person that visiions of Hell?

Anyone ever see an interview about visions of Hell?

I have read a great deal on the subject. In all of my readings on near death experiences, the only thing close to hell was when people described seeing other spirits who were overly concerned with the Earthly world - so much so that they did not realize that they were supposed to go "somewhere else" (heaven?) - they referred to these people as having a "dull energy". Some say that these spirits need to be told to "go towards to light" or "seek God" or told "it's ok, you can leave now, you belong with God".

I have also read that those who commit murder or suicide have a very clear understanding that they should not have done that - that it is a grave mistake, but they did not say what happens to them. I think the focus was more on the issue that they interferred with the bigger plan and that's a no no.

And aside from near death experiences, Slyvia Brown, psychic, indicates that some do not go to what is considered heaven, but immediately go to a dark place and then are reborn. Not sure what's supposed to be in the dark place. But their time there, I think, is supposed to be brief.

"I had a vision. I was in a beautiful place, with fire, and brimstone, and cute little guys poking me in the butt with pitchforks."
-- Homer Simpson
