Hi, Is the seating at the Bar and/or Counter walk-up ?? And do I need to check in when CG opens to avoid a long wait?? Anyone had any experience with this seating at CG?? Thanks, Joan

Before I got my ADR, folks on this board suggested that I get there as soon as they opened and grab a seat at the bar to eat. I since have gotten an ADR, so it's not an issue, but if you're going at a busy time of the year, I'd definitly get there as early as possible.

Most of the time, people aren't allowed up to the restaurant without an ADR. It depends on occupancy. Sometimes, when the moon is in the right house, they'll let you up to the bar to have drinks, apps, or even a full meal without an ADR. The chef counter and sushi counter are part of the regular restaurant seating and are available by request at the podium with an ADR.

It seems that whenever we go to CG and they let us up early (we have ADR's) to grab a drink at the bar--there are no seats. Or any seats in the very small lounge area. We wind up snagging a couple of stray chairs and sit propped up against the wall, trying in vain to get a drink.
I'd suggest making an ADR and when you arrive at the restaurant, request the seating at the chefs counter. OTherwise try to get there as early as you can, long before the fireworks begin.
