So I got banned from BiddingforTravel. Can you belive this? I have been posting a lot getting help since I am having trouble getting hotel in D.C. The admin went all off on me saying I am waisting her time and stuff. I replied that she was rude for going nuts at me and I was just asking for help. I wasnt trying to be rude or waist her time I said and she didnt need to reply if I was waisting her time. I thought she was very helpful but now I am mad she banned me. So am I not allowed to be upset with people. I didnt use profanity or say anything really mean. Help me!

Well, I'm not sure of the situation, but maybe she was just having a very bad night. Do you have her email address? Perhaps a kind, well thought out email apologizing for any offense she may have taken to what you said. Open up an avenue of discussion and try to see if you can work things out.

I really dont feel I did anything wrong and dont feel I should admit wrong. It just ticked me off. I will try to find her email so I can email her. What are other peoples opinion.
Thanks
Matt

I have seen some really snippy posts by the administrators. The usually have something to do with not FULLY reading the FAQ or fully posting your information according to guidelines.

The site has excellent information and a loyal following, but I have clearly seen some rude posts.

If you cant get back in by re-registering, maybe try an alternate site
Better bidding

It sad they have such great information but have to be so snippy about things. I would never expect a reply from somone espically an admin or moderator on this site. I dont think I was snippy in any way but she sure was. I am upset I cant find hotel in DC and this set me off more. Thanks for letting me vent!

After getting a few "snippy" comments from "sherry" or whatever her name is I will not post on biddingfortravel. I will still visit to see what winning bids are for an area but that is it. In fact IMO she simply say on evey page and when you sign up to ONLY post winning bids or bid request per the FAQ's because anything else is deemed "a waste of time."

I sent her email apoligizing and got this reponse
"Not having a bad night at all. Anyone who calls me rude when I am simply enforcing our clearly stated rules that you had already read is no longer welcome on my website.

p070.ezboard.com/fpriceli...D=30.topic"
People these days. What is up with them?
Matt

They're rude over there. I read but don't dare post anymore after having been publicly chastised.

She must not be tolerating much these days since her site seems to be booming.
That's too bad.
I think she expects too much from the ignorant general public. ;)
She was nasty to me a couple of times several years ago. I ignored the attitude and took her advice to get my cheap hotel rooms.
Now I am probably better at bidding than she is. ;) I've bid on hundreds of hotels totaling well over a thousand nights over the last 4 years. I quit posting them over there mainly because of her attitude, even though she dropped it with me. I didn't like how awful she was to other people. There was just no reason to be like that.

It can be a difficult process to bid successfully on Priceline. Some people get it, some don't. If I were you I'd go to betterbidding and tell them how mean she was. They hear it all the time and they'll help you out. :)

If not, have you tried Hotwire?

Kind of odd behavior from a moderator whose entire site is built around the premise of people volunteering to tell her what they paid for hotel rooms. Her commodity is other people's information, so you would think she'd be pleasant to the other people. Call me crazy. It's something I've always noticed about her site.

It is useful as heck, though.

Thanks at least I am not the only one she is rude to. But since I am banned I cant even look at her site. I fairly good at bidding but still want advice. I am seriously thinking of starting my own forums for priceline. Could you guys help spread the word I get it up?
Matt

Soooo.... you on DSL? Cable? Connect from work?

If it's from home and you have DSL or cable, you can tell your computer to 'refresh' your IP address and whoila! you are no longer banned. Of course, you can't post there, but you can see it.... just a suggestion.

Shhh don't tell her I told you. ;)

I got cable. But comcast says I am only given one ip and cant get new one unless I pay. I am seriously thinking thought of building my own priceline page. Any people want to help me promote it and moderatate it. I am good at web design and setting up forums so I can do that. I just need people to spread word and help post on it. Please pm or post if you want to help.

Ok, let me be more specific. Do you have a STATIC IP address? I doubt it as this is normally something you have to pay extra for. If you don't have one, you use something called DHCP - that means you get an IP from your provider for a certain set length of time. If you computer is on all the time, that IP is always going to be saved for you. If your computer is off and your time is up, that number is given to someone else. If running on NT, XP or 2000, click on start, then click Run, type in CMD. At the prompt type ipconfig /release and hit enter. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit enter. Close the window. There, you have a new IP address.

Starting up a new website takes a LOT of time and effort and it will be difficult for you to drag peple to your site, given there are others out there. No matter how much you despise that site, you can't convince the thousands of others of the facts. And if it gets too big then you have other issues to deal with. Ask the webmasters here. As a web designer and Web host myself, I'd wish you lots of luck - there are lots of hurdles to get over.

I have looked at the site, but never have posted. I agree with the previous poster's comment about needing other people's info and maybe she should be nicer to them. That woman is pretty darn rude on a lot of posts. If she is freakin because people are asking questions she thinks they should already know, couldn't she just refer them to the appropriate part of the FAQ thread?

I have gotten several hotel rooms using the info on that site, but haven't even bothered posting my results. Maybe I should for all the nice people out there.

This doesn't work if you are using a router though correct?

Oh yeah, I've looked at that site a few times but saw so many rude posts from the admin that I was too scared to post. Their rules are far too complicated. ;)

I have to agree - I've looked at that site, but would never post - IMO she is extremely rude in the way she "speaks" to people who post there. If you do not word your post in exactly the right manner, she gets very snippy.
