I do believe there are more. (last I checked last year) These included some of my favorites, including some Meg Cabot books! Gahh! I'll read what I like, thanks very much. Oh, read some books by Julie Anne Peters! Those are very good. So far, she's written Far From Xanadu, Between Mom and Jo, Define "Normal", Luna (won an award), a collection of short stories called Grl2Grl, and my personal favorite, Keeping You a Secret. Great books. Most likely banned by parents who think homosexuality is "bad" (these books deal with lesbians, transgenders, a kid with two moms, a girl with a problematic mother, etc) I know that The Giver (by Lois Lowry) is another popular banned book (which I love; my 6th grade and 8th grade teachers read it to us).

IMO, banned books ROCK!!!

For some of them I really don't understand why they would be banned..
What about Go Ask Alice? I read that...I've heard that it was banned from some libraries.

Ah, Banned Books.

Basically, they're books that parents feel are "unsuitable" for children to read.
i.e. Books that deal with:
Homosexuality
Sex (or sexual themes)
Children who don't believe in God (i.e. Leslie from Bridge to Teribithia)
Books with "witchcraft" or "magic" (i.e. The Witches, Harry Potter, etc)
Many, many more.
There are websites dedicated to this. Not sure of it, but I'm sure you can find it. Parents find these books "unethical" "unsuitable", etc. They ask libraries in their hometowns to take the books off their shelves. Unfortunately, with the right papers, they can achieve this. Children should be allowed to read what they want to. If parents have a problem with what their child is reading (for pleasure or for school), then that is their problem.

Sometimes it's not parents. Sometimes the government just feels like a certain book just isn't appropriate and shouldn't be read.

Banned books = Stupid. It's america, I think we've earned the right to choose what we get to read.

I've read half the books on that list.
