Banking/using points question

Sorry brain dead here …my question
in Dec 2022 I will be making a reservation for Nov 2023
I get my points on mar 1. 2022
so do I bank my points into 2023 on mar 1 2022. Or because I am booking in 2022 there is no need to bank ??
also I have 29 banked points from 2021. Can I use them ?
I need 4 rooms so will be using my 2022, 23 and 24 points.

Everything is based on the time of the trip and not when you book. A November 2023 trip is in your March 2023 UY…that means you must bank your 2022 points before making that booking.

Banked 2021 points are good during your 2022 UY so will not be good for a November 2023 trip.

Easiest way for me is to first figure out UY the trip happens. Then I know I can use banked points from the UY before the trip, points from the UY of the trip and borrow up to 50% from the UY after the trip.

in your case, that November trip can be booked with banked 2022, 2023 and borrowed…up to 50% currently..2024 points.

The 29 points banked from March, 2021 use-year to 2022, must be used by the end of Feb, 2023, or will be lost. They will not be available for a Nov, 2023 reservation.

I assume you have a March use year so any banking must be done by 10/31.
Your Nov. 2023 vacation will fall in your 2023 use year (3/1/23 - 2/27/24) so you can use:
banked use year 2022 points - so get them banked before Halloween 2022.
current use year 2023 points
borrowed use year 2024 points (max 50% unless they remove the borrowing restriction)
Your 29 points banked from 2021 into 2022 are good for vacations from 3/1/22 - 2/27/23, so you won’t be able to use them for your Nov. 2023 trip.
