Banking Question

Hi everyone
Quick question about banking. I own 550 points at beach club with a December use year. I would like to travel in December 2021 or March 2022 but at this point I’m not sure. I was going to book December 2021 now so I have something booked and when I go to book it’s asking me if I want to bank the points. Is it in my best interest to do this? Or if I book December 2021 now and then switch to March 2022 in April 2021 (11 month window) does it make no difference if I bank? Or do you always want to bank just in case you need to cancel in the future? Thanks

Both trips would fall in your 2021 UY. If you're not planning on booking anything else in your 2020 UY then you might as well bank them.

If you want to wait to bank 2020 just in case you decide to travel before Dec 2021, you can wait to bank.

Once you are sure you won’t be going, prior to the banking deadline of July 30th, you can bank.

Then you can just modify the reservation booked,..whether it’s Dec 2021 or March 2022, don’t change anything, and then it will use the banked points.

Since banking is final, once you do, no way to get them back if you decide to go and with the 50% limit on borrowing, you could end up short,

I am doing this, Even though most of my trips are set, I am waiting to bank in case I need to adjust!

And just so I understand, if you have to bank your Dec 2020 points by July 2021 so you don’t lose them (if I didn’t end up going in Dec 2021 or March 2022) then when would the banked points need to be used by? And by used is it a travel by date or book by date

If you did not bank the points by July 31, 2021 then they would need to be used by Nov 30, 2021. Or to say another way - the last night they could be used is Nov 30th. They would disappear on Dec 1, 2021 and be gone otherwise.

Yes. Just don’t need to bank today if you may need them before July. If you know there is no way you’d go prior, then go ahead and do it now,

Ah - I read a couple different things in your post. IF you do bank them then the banked points need to be used by Nov 30, 2022. And if you didn't bank them by July 31st then they wouldn't be banked points of course but would expire by Nov 30, 2021.

If you don't plan to travel before Dec 1, 2021 then you might just as well bank the points and book the reservations you mentioned. Once you do bank them they can be used for any stays from Dec 1, 2021 to Nov 30, 2022.
