Sorry if I keep asking the same question however I tried a search and cannot find the general banking rules.

If you use year is October for example, can someone have banked points from 2003?

Can anyone explain the banking policy to me one last time.

Thanks for your patience

Yes, you can bank into the following use year. So, for an October use year the current use year is 2004 (i.e., points received on October 1, 2004 and expire on September 30, 2005). So if someone had banked points into the current use year, those points would have been 2003 points (received on October 1, 2003). The labeling of a use year's points goes by the date that the points are received, so the 2005 use year won't start until October 1, 2005 for those with the October use year.

Make yourself a chart for the use year you are wondering about:

2003 use year points are good for stays between 10/1/2003 and 9/30/2004
2004 use year points are good for stays between 10/1/2004 and 9/30/2005
2005 use year points are good for stays between 10/1/2005 and 9/30/2006
2006 use year points are good for stays between 10/1/2006 and 9/30/2007
etc.

You can bank into the following year or borrow from the subsequent year.

You can only bank the same points once.

Once a point is banked or borrowed it cannot be returned to its original use year. It expires at the end of the year into which it was banked or borrowed.

So if 2003 points were banked into 2004, they become good for stays in the 2004 use year - that runs from 10/1/2004 through 9/30/2005.

The answer to your question is yes. You could have points banked from 2003 that are still good if you have an October use year. Those points mus be used by 9/30/2005 or they expire and are forfeited.

HTH.

Thanks so much for the great precise info.

This now all makes perfect sense.

Thanks again

If you are looking to buy resale and there are pts expiring Sept 20, 2005, what are the chances do you think of using them?

Is there any creative way at all to take advantage of these points?

Thanks

IMHO, those points are worth very little (if anything) right now - mostly because it is unlikely that you would be able to close on the resale contract in time to make use of them. Make your offer accordingly. The seller shouldn't be surprised to see an offer that doesn't place much value on those particular points. He/She is probalby going to lose them anyway if the contract doesn't sell soon.

Some things to know -

During the last 60 days of the use year, you cannot make a reservation for a non-DVC option that will also occur in the last 60 days of your use year. That rules out using those points for a stay at one of the non-DVC WDW resorts (like the Poly or GF) or a cruise on the DCL or a stay at something in the Conceirge or Adventurer's collection. You may be able to make a late deposit into the World Passport Collection (trade out of DVC via Interval International). I don't know all the restrictions for this, but there are quite a few - perhaps someone else will post with specifics on this.

So,bottom line: Unless you can go to a DVC resort in September yourself or rent a September reservation to someone else who can, the points are going to be lost. Keep in mind that availability 30 days or less from arrival is usually very limited. That said, September is one of the easier months to get WDW reservations at the last minute, so it is certainly possible. I don't really know what the chances of getting into VB or HHI in September at the last minute may be - if I had to guess, I'd say unlikely at either.

HTH.

Best wishes-

Is there any exceptions Disney would make say for 2 months over the UY to use the points?

Has anyone ever heard of this?

We are planning a trip but not until late October or November.

Thanks

DVC is not likely to allow banked points to be carried over into an additional Use Year. I suppose if they had been used for a reservation affected by a hurricane or some other extreme event, they might allow some leeway, but probably not because of the timing of a resale purchase.

Unless your resale is closed and you are in the DVC computer before July 31, those points could not even be used for a non-DVC option except that you might be able to bank them for a WorldPassport exchange sometime in the future - that would be a means to extend the effective use of those points.

Good luck!
