I just bought the 100-pt. contract at AKV directly through Disney but have not signed the paperwork. I'm very excited :) , but I'm a little nervous :worried: about the use year I chose. My husband and I are both teachers. We will be traveling during our breaks either in late March/early April, June/July, or October. Of these choices, we prefer to travel in October. I had the option of a March or a June UY. I chose March since I was afraid that if I had a June UY and ever did make a reservation for March/April and had to cancel, it would leave no time to reschedule. However, with a March UY, I'm afraid that if I ever have to cancel an October reservation that was made on banked points that I would have a hard time being able to use those points by February 28. I told my guide my concern and asked her if I could borrow points and then bank them by October 31 if I had to cancel an October reservation. She said I COULD bank borrowed points; I just COULD NOT rebank banked points. But from what I'm reading on these boards, this is not correct. Borrowed points must stay in the UY they were borrowed into and CANNOT be banked. Is this correct? I'd appreciate your help!

Banking and borrowing are both FINAL transactions. I understand that borrowed points MAY NOT be returned to their original use year. You would need to try to always use current UY points for your October travel plans. Use your banked points (and any points you may need to borrow) for your spring/early summer trips.

Thanks for your quick reply. My problem is that I plan to go to Disney only every other year, so I will need to either bank or borrow to get 2-year's worth of points. A March UY makes sense to me because we will probably not ever travel in December, January, or February, but it does scare me if I ever have to cancel an October trip, since there will be either banked or borrowed points involved.

Should I change the UY to June which would allow me to reschedule a cancelled trip for spring break (March/April)? Or should I leave it as March so I don't have to worrying about cancelling spring break trips before a June UY?
