Banking Points Question

Hey all, newbie here and possible future DVC owner. I have a question regarding usage of banked points.

Let's say I have 100 banked points from March 2021 that will expire on February 28th 2022 but I'm planning my trip for April 2022.

If I book my hotel or whatever before the expiration of those points, could I still use them? Or once February 28th passes, they would essentially be "dead" and not able to be used in April?

You can not used banked points past the the one year mark of your UY so you are correct that your banked 2020 points will expire and cannot be used for a reservation in April 22 if your UY is March. You would only be able to use banked 2021 and current UY points for an April 22 reservation with a March UY

No matter what, points usage is always when the trip takes place and not when you call.

When trying to figure out what can be used, you simply figure out UY of trip and then you know it can be booked with banked points from UY before trip, points from UY of trip, and borrow points..currently limited to 50% of points owned...from the UY after trip.

So, since an April 2022 trip would take place in the March 2022 UY, you can book it with banked 2021, 2022, and borrow up to 50% to finish the reservation from 2023.
