Banking Points Question

This will be my first time making a reservation with my DVC points. Our use year is February. I currently have 110 2019 points and 110 2020 points. I want to book my reservation for February 20th, 2020. This would be taking from my 2020 points, right? Therefore, if I'm not using my 2019 points, I should bank them into 2020? Do I have to call before my booking date to do this or will it prompt me to do it online as I am making the reservation?

You have to bank the 2019 and online won't prompt you.

It is easy to do online.

Yes, you would need to bank those 2019 points if you want to use them for a Feb. 2020 reservation.

There is a prompt (well, actually just a button at the bottom of the page) during the booking process for banking points. However you can do it ahead of time online as well. No need to call Member Services and wait on hold unless you enjoy listening to poor audio of Disney music.

When you are booking and selecting points to use it will have a message that you have banked points you can use and you can bank them at that time. Or do it anytime now online by going into your points detail. No need to call to bank.

Just because you are making a reservation in your 2020 UY, with 2019 UY points that are not banked, that does not mean you will not be using them in 2019, so DVC had better not touch them!
As PPs said you can bank on line.
When you make your reservation, the is a "how my points are being used" link or something like that (forget the exact wording) that shows you the order it takes points. And banked are taken before current.

You need to bank the 2019 points, if you intend to, by the end of Sept 2019, or they will need to be used before Feb 1, 2020.

Bank the 2019 points first, then make the reservation for your February 2020 trip. You can do all this online. The reservation will first use your banked points, then the 2020 use year points.
