Banking mistake

Has anyone gotten member services to reallocate points days after a trip is completed?

I banked my December 2020 points after I made my Feb 2022 trip reservation. Got distracted by life (mom got sick on our 2020 trip, diagnosed with lung cancer that spread to her liver and spent the last 6 months caring for her on hospice) and never noticed the error until yesterday when I tried to book a 2023 trip and didn’t have all 67 points available to bank like I thought I should.

Member services said they couldn’t do anything, but I’m wondering if I should push for a supervisor or something, or if Im just out of luck and need to rent someone points.

Once a trip has happened, they can’t change out the points because they were already used.

I have never heard of them doing it after the trip ended.

Thanks for replying. I’m trying not to be too upset with myself for making the mistake. I definitely had more important things on my mind. They suggested swapping the points into their new International thing, but I don’t even see anywhere I’d want to stay.

I've been a user of Interval International for quite a few years now (with a Marriott timeshare). I have found that I like their options much better than RCI's. Marriott's locations have almost always been better than anything we got through RCI. If you have any WDW trips coming up and you don't mind staying off-site, there are a few Marriott Timeshare options that are really close to Disney Springs that you can rent via Interval International. Royal Palms, Sabal Palms and Imperial Palms are the three that are located pretty close to DS. We've stayed at Royal Palms and wouldn't hesitate to go back there.

I won’t have another Florida trip until January or February next year. Is Royal Palms close to Universal? Maybe we could do a split stay next year. What does 40 points get me?

I’m really having a hard time negotiating the website. I think because I don’t have the points banked, I can’t see real availability or cost. And I don’t want to bank the points until I know what they can buy me…

What dates are you attempting to see? If you're trying to look past 1/22/23, then that's outside your 11 month window and explains why you cannot see anything beyond those dates.

We are Marriott owners, too, since 1997. Cypress Harbour and Harbour Lake (with the pirate ship in the pool) are closest to Universal and Sea World. Grande Vista is another one to consider. Grande Vista is huge and often has availability; Harbour Lake often has availability, too, probably because it is geared toward younger kids and not teens and couples.

Ok that makes sense about the dates. I think I was able to look at the summer, but I have trips planned to Williamsburg and harpers Ferry WV and nothing available near there. I thought I could t see Christmas in Vermont, but suspect that might be a busy time. Maybe I’ll try leaf peeper season.

I might also consider renting the points out for cash you could put towards a 2023 trip?
