Hi,

I am new to DVC and just about to close on a contract.:cool1: I have been reading the boards for weeks and want to make sure I am understanding the banking portion.

Lets say I bought 100 points at SSR with a Feb UY. I am getting 100 in 2011. I am wondering if I can bank these Feb 2011 points and wait for my next 100 Feb 2012 points THEN book a trip for March 2013.

My thought is no. Do I have to USE the 100 Feb 2011 points by Jan 31, 2013 or can I just have a trip BOOKED and use the points anytime in 2013?

I hope this makes sense! I appreciate ALL the advice on this board! It is so helpful to someone new like me! :goodvibes

Normally, your 2011 points would have to be used by January 31, 2012. If you bank them they are good until January 31, 2013. So, no you could not travel in March 2013 with them.

At least, that is how I figure these things out, lol.

All point use is based on date of stay, not when you make the reservation. February 2011 points are good for stays 2/1/11 to 1/31/12. If you bank them, they move one year to your 2012 use year - so they are good for stays 2/1/12 to 1/31/13. If you borrow, they move ahead one year - so if you borrow 2012 points, they will be good for stays in your 2011 use year (2/1/11-1/31/12).
