I know you can only do 1 transfer per year but you can bank and borrow in the same year correct?

Meaning I could borrow my 2010 BLT pts today and at another point in time, bank my SSR 2009 pts to 2010, correct?

Basically want to borrow 2010 BLT to maximized my 11 month booking alotment. Then at 7months if I can use SSR pts, I would bank my 2009 BLT pts and use my SSR pts. This way I still have BLT pts in 2010.

Thanks

You can bank at any time as long as you have bankable points. You can also bank multiple times. You can only borrow points if you need additional points to make a reservation.

It seems that you want to do something like the following:

1. Make a BLT reservation 11 months out using both regular BLT points and borrowed so you can reserve time longer than you could with just your current use year points.

2. At seven months switch SSR points for the current use year BLT points used in the reservation you made at 11 months out and then bank those BLT points.

As noted, you can borrow as many times as you want but you only do so when you need to when making a reservation, so step 1 above is possible. You can bank points in any increments at any time as long as you do so within first eight months of your use year, so the banking portion of step 2 above is also possible as long as you are not beyond the eighth month banking window when you attempt to bank.

However, where you might face a problem is trying to switch those SSR points for BLT points at 7 months out. Since they are points from a different resort, MS could require you to cancel the 11 month reservation you have and make a new one at 7 months out and that may destroy your ability to get the same reservation because the moment you cancel that first reservation made 11 months out it will be filled by those already line waiting for that time. Nevertheless, I note that a number of members have reported being able to make the kind of point switch described in No. 2 above without having to cancel and thus you may be able to do just what is planned..

I don't quite understand this. Are you saying you want to make a BLT reservation at 11-month with borrowed points, and then at 7-months switch that over to SSR points?

Or are you saying at 7-months you want to make a second BLT reservation using SSR points.

If it's the first, then as drusba said, it would be a cancellation and rebooking. Also, if you used borrowed points that you replaced with SSR points, they remain as borrowed points and cannot be put back into their original 2010 use year. They would expire at the end of your 2009 use year if not used.

Yes, you can bank and borrow as much as you want.

But it sounds like you want to take advantage of 11 months and then at 7 months, "swap" home resort points for non-home resort points.

Just so you know, you can not do this unless there is still availability for the same room booked using your BLT points at 11 months.

For example, if you book 5 nights in a 1 bedroom with an MK view 11 months out using both 2009 and 2010 BLT points, you can not just replace those 2009 BLT points (so you can bank them) with your SSR points at 7 months, unless there is still availability for that same 1 bedroom MK view for all the same nights.

Good luck with your planning! It is so much fun!!!!

No I understand at 7 months I can only swap my SSR pts in to BLT if there is availibility. So in essence it is not a swap but a cancel and rebook. that is why I wanted to borrow the BLT pts to ensure I get as many days as possible in case there is nothing left at the 7 month mark.

Thanks

MS will only borrow what is needed to cover the reservation you want to make if you do not have enough points available from what is the current Use Year allotment of points during which the dates of that reservation occur.

I may be mistaken but to do what you've got in mind you might have to bank 2009 Use Year points first before making this reservation.

You are correct that the only points that would be bankable are 2009 UY points (but you must do so before end of 8th month of Use Year). As others stated once borrowed points stay borrowed and must be used during the UY they are borrowed into.
