Banking-Borrowing pts?

I am a new member of DVC and have a question regarding banking and borrowing of points. I have reservation for Sept. at BLT that cost me 368 points. I had to borrow 48 points from next year (2010) to make this happen. My plans have slightly changed and I need to shorten my trip by 1 day meaning I need 36 less points for this reservation. I know that I can't return the points I borrowed from next year, but can I use them and bank 36 of my 2009 points. Please let me know.

Yes you may bank 36 points from 2009 Use Year into 2010 Use Year providing your 2009 UY pts will still be within their banking window which is first 8 months of the Use Year at time you make change to reservation - just be sure to be very clear that this is, in fact what MS does when you call to make change to your original reservation
