We are new DVC owners.

Just rec'd closing documents so it should be about a month before I have access to make a reservation.

I'm hoping to make reservations for end of June/July 2014. Our contract is February UY and for this reservation I will need to use banked 2013 points, all of 2014 points, and borrow 2015 points.

We also just signed ANOTHER contract for another contract (same Feb UY) ... which has some banked 2013 points, and all of 2014 points. However, this contract's points probably will not be loaded into our account before the 7 month mark.

Question .. if I make the reservation will all the points from the 1st contract when those are available to me in about a month can I then 'switch out points' when the points are loaded for the 2nd contract? For instance, will I be able to bank the 1st contract's 2014 points to 2015 and substitute the 2nd contracts banked 2013 points? Will there have to be availability when I do this?

Thanks in advance for your help. Hope that all made sense. :rotfl:

As long as (a) the two contracts have the same use year and the points are for the same resort, (b) the two contracts and deeds are in the exact same buyers' (your) names, and (c) when doing that second contract, you or the broker clearly inform Disney before you close on it that you want it to be joined with the first contract in the same member number, then (d) you should be able to replace 2014 points in the reservation from the first contract with banked 2013 points from the second contract. Note, that if you borrow points from 2015 to make that initial reservation, you won't want to replace those becuase borrowed points cannot be sent back to the year from which they were borrowed.

The question is whether you need to do it that way. Don't know what resort you are buying but the 11 month window is open now and the 7 month window will open end of November. Your option to avoid borrowing points is the reserve what you can with the first contract without having to borrow 2015 points and then reserve the rest of the time with the second contract when its points become available as long as you get them before the 7 month window opens. If you are talking about reserving any of the following you can wait on finishing the reservation because it is virtually certain all of these will be available even at 7 months out for that time of year: SSR, OKW except for GVs at the hospitality House, AKV except value and club level rooms, BCV except possibly a studio, BWV pool/garden view, BLT lake view or theme park view, or VWL. in other words at WDW, you only need to rush doing the entire reservation if you want AKV value or club level (probably already gone), BLT standard view (also likely already gone), a BCV studio, BWV standard or boardwalk view, BWV GV or an OKW GV at Hospitaliy House.

Thanks for the reply.

Both contracts should be exactly the same ... same names, same resort, same UY.

My concern is that the 2nd contract's points will not be loaded until possibility after the 7 month mark (the offer was just recently accepted) ... seems to be huge delays lately with Disney uploading the points (and they are taking the full 30 days for ROFR).

Therefore, once I have access to the 1st contract's points I wanted to book the entire reservation ... just in case there is no availability for what I want when the 2nd contract closes. We're looking at a 2-bedroom at BLT ... prefer Theme Park View but Lake View or Standard will be okay too.

If you have to wait until after the 7 month window for using the points in the second contract then likely you should make the whole reservation with the first contract and make the switch afterwards.
