Banking and Use Year

I'm sure everyone is sick of these type of questions, but before I call and put a deposit down tomorrow, I want to make sure I'm clear on this. We won't be going in 2004 so we are going to take the $10 off deal and forfeit our points. We're hoping to have another child in 2005, so we would bank 2005 points. I'm not sure what use years they are selling, but I've heard March and November. Anyway, if we were to try and go over Christmas of 2006, would we be able to use the banked 2005 points and our 2006 points, or do the banked points expire on the use year of 2006 (ie. Nov. 2006 or March 2006 or whatever the use year is)? I hope someone understands what I'm asking.

Since you now know our plans...not using 2004, banking 2005, and using 2005 and 2006, might we be better off to wait until 2005 to purchase? Do you think SSR will still be for sale in 2005 and if so would we be better off purchasing now at $79 a point, or waiting until 2005 and saving some money to put a larger amount down at $89 a point...assuming it doesn't go up. Since I said that, do you think it will stay at $89 or will that go up? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks again.

If you get a March use year and forfeit the 2004 points you will get new points in March of 2005. You can then bank them and use them for your Christmas trip in 2006. Make sure to watch for the banking deadlines and when you make your reservations make sure to tell them that you want to use your banked points first. But the other side of this is the fact that it is going to be very hard for you to wait that long and I wouldn't doubt it if you find time for another trip in there someplace.

The price will just continue to go up so if you have the money now and you will do it no matter what, buy now. SSR is the larges DVC resort ever built. It will without a doubt still be selling in 2005 and 2006 for that matter.

Sorry to keep adding to my questions, but I just want to make sure I get everything correct in my mind before I go forward with things tomorrow. So I bank points from 2005 and want to use them in 2006. When do they need to be used before they expire (in relation to my use year). Lets just assume a March use year. The points are banked. I plan a trip in 2006. Are the points good until a certain point in 2006 or there to use at any point that year? Sorry for so many questions, I just want to make sure I'm doing things right here. Thanks so much.

With a March use year, March 2005 points would be good 3/1/05 to 2/28/06. If you bank them, they will be good 3/1/06 to 2/28/07. So they will be good for Christmas 2006 if banked.

One thing to consider - you will start paying dues now even though you are forfeiting your 2004 points. They will be pro-rated for 2004 from the day you make the deposit until the end of the year.
