Banking and borrowing

I just purchased a resale DVC contract to beach club!! So excited but had couple of questions as new owners.
First how often can you bank and borrow within use year?

also if short on points are you allowed to buy points from Dvc site? How many can you buy and what’s the price?

You can bank points once. You can borrow points once. Once points are banked or borrowed, they are permanently in their new UY.

You can buy 24 one time points per year for $19 per point. They can only be purchased at 7 months and only used by phone.

Ok the 7 month thing can be a challenge then? Especially if want to book home resort out 11 months and don’t have enough points. By the time I can buy additional points will be fully booked and lose out on home resort

Just to clarify:

You do not have to bank all of your points at once. You can bank a portion of your current use year points and then later bank more if you want to do that. But as auroraborealis posted, you can only bank a particular point once and it's a final transaction. (You can't "un-borrow").

You may only borrow points when you are making a reservation that will use them. If you later cancel that reservation, the borrowed points remain in the use year into which they were borrowed, and will expire at the end of that use year, unless you use them for another reservation that occurs in that use year.

Yes, 7 month booking is often a challenge. It is entirely possible that there will not be availability for what you want by the time you can buy the additional OTU points. Also, since you have to call MS to buy the One Time Use (OTU) points, everyone who books online at 7 months has an hour's head start over you.

I am going to piggy back on this thread as I have a borrowing points question.
I am going to be making a reservation at PVB next month for October 2020.
I currently have 68 PVB points in my 2020 Feb. use year.
I will be making a reservation for 5 nights and need 105 points , so will have to borrow 37 from 2021.
There is a possibility that next spring after schedules come out that I may have to cancel one of the days and only use 4.
Can I call MS and keep using the borrowed points and have the current use year points not needed placed back into account, so that I could bank them if before Sept. 30 2020.

In addition to calling MS, you can now do it yourself. Once you cancel the 5th night and the points are returned to your account, go back into the 4 night reservation and hit modify, then go through the Process like you are booking the room and it will take the borrowed points for you!

I think it is one of the best features with us having online abilities now,
