Banked Points

I purchased a contract recently that hasn't closed yet. The contract is a 250 point contract with 249 banked points, so 499 points available on December 1. I plan on making some reservations when I am able, and I was thinking of making multiple reservations for a specific week in March and then canceling the one I don't want later, once I see if a specific resort I want is available in June. I want to be sure the banked points are used first. Are points committed to a reservation when it's made, or when it's used? What I mean is, if I cancel one of the March reservations, will it use banked points for my March and June reservations automatically or will it use points it earmarked for them when the reservation is made? I'm sorry if I didn't word this well. I hope someone knows what I mean.

You choose which points to use online when you make the reservation.

Just be sure that if you end up cancelling a reservation booked with banked points to keep one booked with current points that you call back to MS and have them reallocate those banked points to the reservation you are keeping.
