Yes with the following caveats:

1. If you make reservation by phone, it should happen, but to be safe make sure you verify by checking points used afterward online. Also, when doing by phone, it does not hurt to mention when reserving that you want banked points used first.

2. If you do the reservation online, it will also take banked points first but be careful if you have more than one contract, e.g., an initial purchase and then some add-ons. The online system lets you choose which contracts and order of contracts in which points are taken for the reservation. Don't make the mistake of not listing your contract that has banked points for use in the reservation.

You need to keep track of your points and reservations at home and make sure that the correct points are used first. Don't just assume that things will happen as they should.

The answer is yes.

Just make sure to check your points totals online after you make the reservation and make sure you agree with what the system is now showing. It is easier to call in and have an MS agent modify the point use early (if for some reason the wrong points got used) than it is to try to fix it later.

The reason you're being told to keep track is because the system does use banked points first when you make the reservation. Again, WHEN YOU MAKE THE RESERVATION. The specific points are allocated to the specific reservation. If you make a reservation with banked points, and then make a second reservation with current points, then cancel the first reservation, you'll have banked points left. If you pay attention, you can have member services reallocate your points to make sure the most restrictive are used first.
