Banked? Borrowed? Confused!!!

OK.
I though that someone is going to explain this to me and I am going to feel dume=ber than dumb but her goes.....
As I understand... banking points menas.. saving them into the next use year.... but if you decide t, you can also borrow the your max. points a year a head of time right?
Is there a dealine to bank points? How long can you carry over banked points? Do they have to be used the following year?? Or can you bank thm indefinitely? Is there a limit?

Points can only be "banked" for one year. You put them forward into the next Use Year and they have to be used by the end of that year. There are deadlines for the percentage of your total points that you can bank. It starts at 100%, goes to 50% in the 7 month, goes to 25% at 10 months and you cannot bank any points at all during the last two months of your Use Year.

You can also "borrow" points from the upcoming year into this year. These points then have to be used by the end of that Use Year.

Once points have been moved -- banked or borrowed, they are permanently in that Use Year and must be used by the end of the year.

Don't feel dumb -- we've all asked the question (sometimes multiple times).

you can kept banking your current points - so yes you can bank as long as you like -

when you make your reservation for next year - make sure that MS uses your bank points.

then every year you can bank your current points.

I explain better with a sample

okay first year you bank your points say 150 points - so next year you have 150 points banked and 150 current points

you have a reservation in July (using okw)
110 points 2-bedrooms Sun-Thurs

so now you can bank 110 points of your current year points

if you do this now you have 40 points banked than must be used and 40 current points

you make a reservation in Sept (using OKW)
40 points - studio Sun-Thurs

then bank your other 40 current points until next year.

to do this - your must ALWAYS tell Ms you are using bank points - otherwise - this gets to be a big mess......

One of the nice things about this system is that at 6 months you can bank all of your points if you don't think you will use them. Then if you decide to take a trip during the remainder of your use year after you have banked the points, you can always borrow from the next year.

Banking an borrowing are one of the more complex often discussed topics around here. Don't feel bad about asking.
