Bank Question, Check amount changed.

'It happens all the time?' wth? Did you ask who's mistake it was-bank or IRS? Very weird. I check all our checks as well and would have caught it but ....seems very strange. I'd love to know for whom Lashanda works. If she works for the govt, then it's ok 'cause we need the money(lol) but it she works for the bank....she's got some 'splainin to do!!!

If that is all she did my response would have been "hiring you was a mistake, where's the manager."

The banks contract with check clearing houses so the chances that it is a bank employee in Connecticut is extremely remote.

It was reported to the bank. They're going to fix it. Nothing to see here.

That's about the size of it.

I'm glad the bank is taking care of it for Dawn. If I had a teller telling me it was just a mistake that someone changed my check and it happens all the time. I would have closed the account on the spot. Sorry, I don't want a bank that thinks that is okay.

I would also be calling the IRS and letting them know that my check had been changed and see what theya re going to do about it

The part of the check where DH wrote was not changed. The person who read the amount thought she saw 57 instead of 37 and wrote what she thought she saw on the face of the check and debited that amount from my account. All the IRS did was receive the check and cash it. If they received $20 more than they should have, it will be debited from their account. They don't need to do anything. The bank is obligated to fix it. It was written clearly.

I have had the same mistake happen before and its been fixed. What was weird for me was that it was the IRS! I am glad that didn't mess around with the first two numbers.....or add one to the left.
