The Disney Visa (Bank One is now Chase) gives you 1% back on all purchases. The 1% back is in the form of credits which you can have transferred on to a card which can be used at any of the Disney parks, the Disney Store or any Disney Resort. They run special offers for cardholders such as free movie passes, discounts and the ability to purchase special Disney merchandise. You can also get 0% financinag on Disney vacation packages for 6 months. The card typically has incentives to sign up such as an extra 25 or 50 of the Disney Dream Dollars (the reward dollars.) The card has no annual fee and the first six months are usually at 0% interest as well.

You may get very different opinions on if it is worth it or not. I like it because I travel alot for work and use it for alot of expenses which get paid off every month. If you typically carry a large balance on your cards this card is probably not for you as the interest rate is definately not the best!

Hope this helps :)

Personally, I love it. I'm a person who pays off her card each month, though, so I'm not concerned about the interest rate. I do like that there's no annual fee, and I get a lot of comments from store vendors about my bright red Disney card! (And, secretly, knowing that it says "charter cardmember" on the bottom makes me feel like I'm a Disney insider or something!) Because we to go DW annually, I use my card for everything--cable bill, groceries, college tuition, restaurants--so that I can rack up those points. This summer, we'll have almost 300 Disney points to use in the parks. And since we've already paid for our package, that's souvenirs, baby!!!

You may want to do a search for Disney Visa here and on the rewards board. There's lots of great info out there...

Just some info re: the interest rate. I try to pay off balance in full each month, but sometimes end up carrying a balance. Due to the variable APR, my interest rates slowly over time climbed to 13.99% from the initial rate of 10.9% (I was a charter cardmember). I called in Feb, requesting a decrease in the rate, and was asked to call back in March - not exactly sure why. I called back last week, and lo & behold I was aproved for a rate of 9.99%!! Every little bit helps - so if anyone is carrying a higher rate, I would suggest calling. The worst they can say is no!

I have other cards with a lower rate, but as we are returning to WDW next year, I'm trying to use this one as much as possible to gain points. Even paid our oldest DS's college tuition/room & board with it this year and will do it again next year - then pay it off with the college savings $$ we have set aside. Might as well gain the points - and believe me with the cost of college -it adds up fast!!

I'm having my kitchen completely redone and using my disney card for everything.... Rack up those points.. wahoo!!!

I charge every single thing I can to it....groceries, cell phone bill, cable bill, gas, a pack of gum :rotfl2:, etc... . Everything that accepts a charge card gets charged. We rarely use cash or checks for anything. It gets paid off at the end of the month and I rack up the points. We wind up with a couple hundred Reward points by the time our next trip rolls around (usually 6 or 7 months apart). That's free money for the trip :cool1: . I absolutely think it's worth it if you use it right.

I think the reason you were asked to call back was the change from BankOne computers to Chase computers (they have had some issues!)

I use it for work so I get points and someone else pays the bill! Works for me!

However, DO NOT redeem the awards until you are ready to use them. Someone over on the community board was upset recently because they had redeemed all thier awards and on 12/31/05 they expired. THe awards expire faster once you put them on the little credit card thing!

I have this card and like the others, I use it for EVERYTHING. It actually has the 2nd best interest rate of any card I carry. My cards include 2 discover accounts, 1 citibank, and this one. I love this card. I already have over $100 rewards points towards my "habit". ;)

We also use our Disney card for EVERYTHING and pay it in full each month. I got the tip from this board, but I used mine like a debit card and I write each transaction into my checkbook with a little code "DIS" in the column for check number. When my statement comes, I just add up the charges and add it back into my checkbook, and write the check. It works for us, and we don't have credit card heart failure when the bill comes in...every transaction has already been accounted for.

I'm sure there are other offers out there that have better perks. But I look at it this way...this is my forced savings for Disney. We don't get there often (usually every other year or so), and we can't really afford a Disney trip (we make it happen, but it's tight!). I know that the next time we plan a trip, I'll have a nice amount of rewards to use however I want to (probably for food). At this point, we have 180 saved up! WooHoo!! :Pinkbounc

I feel you there! We definately have to squeeze to get it all going, but we can do it. Besides, I'd like to think the hard work and sacrificing makes it all sweeter when we reach our goal. :grouphug:

I don't know if you have to have good credit, but the terms if you don't pay off each month are really bad, and even worse if you miss a payment. They also say no interest on a DIsney vacation for six months or somthing like that, but if you miss a payment due date that interest free part ends real quickly - in fact, I think they can even spontaneously riase the rates on you - I think, up to 20%. Anyhow, I wouldn't trust it. I would also suggest to those of you that are maxing your reward points - make certain you have enough money in reserve to cover this month's expenses plus a second month- otherwise you are playing with fire! (say, if you lost your job - would you be able to pay off next month's bill with the money you already have on hand?)
Having said that, they are also offering a limited 2% back promo right now if you spend over a certain amount each month on certain things.

I was wondering how you redeem your disney dollars and how long does it take to recieve the points???

Woo Hoo!

Just called on my interest rate for my DV and got it lowered from 12.99% to 9.99%. Every little bit helps!

Weluvdisny - that's great! I was so happy when I called last week and they lowered it to 9.99% - that was why I posted it on this thread. ANYONE with a rate higher than 9.99% should call and see if it can be lowered. Like I said before - the worst they can say is no!

I see you are from central NY - I grew up in a small town (Worcester) in central NY, and also lived in Cooperstown for awhile after graduating from college -worked as a nurse at MI Bassett Hosp. Are you anywhere around there? I stil have family in that and the Herkimer area.

Redeeming points - I went online and went through the process, get into your account manage rewards...etc. ordered a rewards card. It took about 12 days to get here. I think though for future it is much quicker. They just load it to the card you already have when you request. I went ahead and ordered my card after my last bill ($477  after 18 months) so that there wouldnt be any trouble with anything delayed/lost in mail. Especially since there will be some points come available just a week before my next trip and I'm hoping for that instantaneous transfer. You do have to transfer a minimum of $20. You can only have one rewards card at a time. I was wanting to get 3 so that I could give one to each of the kids.

Dont expect any of the other promised benefits. There have been other threads about the cards were many of us are disappointed that walt disney world vacation discounts haven't materialized.
