Bank before renting out?

DVC newbie here! I recently closed on a SSR Dec UY that includes 125 points for 2021. We’re going to skip this year as we have other vacations planned, so I’m going to rent the points out once they’re loaded in my account.

Since the banking deadline for those points would be 7/31, do you think they’d be able to easily be rented out for stays before the 11/30/22 deadline? Or am I better off banking them to be rented for stays after 12/1/22?

Given the lack of availability between now and November 30, my inclination would be to bank and rent the points out for stays starting December 1. We are already at 7 months for December. You will have a better chance of renting those points out before they expire if you bank them.

Or bank and use them for your own trip in 2023.

Definitely will have more luck with banking and renting out from Dec 1st on.

I'd first offer them as a transfer if I didn't plan to use them. The recipient can bank transferred points.

Once transferred, you are done, so no hassle dealing with renters or making reservations for others. If you haven't rented before or are relatively new to DVC, renting points by making reservations for others is not as easy as some here would have you believe.

If you can't arrange a transfer prior to your banking deadline (7/31/2022), then go ahead and bank and try renting the points by making reservations for others. Good luck!
