I would stick with it if you enjoy it. Its your senior year! Finish high school off being happy rather than miserable because you dropped something you enjoy. I just got back from band camp a few days ago. At least in our band, we need more than one person to step up and take charge. The flutes, for example, were absolutely clueless this year. At one point, a friend of mine turned to the line of flutes and said "This is a really good diag! It would really come in handy later! How about an arc now!" It must have been so frustrating for the upper classmen in that section. There were only 2 people, though, that actually stepped up and said "listen, this is what we need to do and this is what you better do" Had more people done that, I don't think there would have been as many problems as there were. At one point, the band expands and moves backward. The flutes were right in front of me and were supposed to be in a diag. (I'm in color guard by the way.) The flutes pushed too far back and ended up being a straight line up to one point and then it turned into a diag, so it kind of looked like this if you can picture it... _/ . They were supposed to be like 8 steps in front of me, but were only about 2. My friend (the same one that made the comment I said earlier) turned to them and said "Do you all realize that we are right in front of the color guard? In case you haven't noticed, they have REALLY big metal poles." The flutes just stared at her. She said "and they WILL hit you and it WILL hurt." They got the point and went to where they were supposed to be. My point is that they need as many upperclassmen to get the underclassmen to where they are supposed to be. Even thought you don't have the "official title" of section leader, you can still be a section leader by stepping up and "mentoring the underclassmen.
