3rd year clarinet, but new to marching this year. I go to a small school with a small band.

I love music! Don't know what I'd do without it. I am also learning to play the piano.

Like 1A, 2A, 3A etc... schools?

yes we do we are a 2a school and we have played against a 3a school and more than doubled their band

This is my third year in marching band, i play the trumpet :] I must say though, I really did not enjoy marching band until my second season and it just keeps getting better.

so we're pretty big.

actually most of my school district is 5A schools
it's the biggest division i think.
The school has to have at least 1200 (i think) students.

My band is 6A and we have about 200 winds/brass/percussion with 40 guard members. I play french horn and our part is amazing this year!!!!

Drumline!!!! i played bass drum my freshman year, snare soph and junior year, and cymbals this year it's my life! i also do concert percussion and drum set! i LOVE band, as i said, it's my life. we had our first game 2 weeks ago, it was a DISASTER! all our pracitces got rained out, so it was our first time marching the show on the felid! no one knew where they were sposed to be! we do a different show every game...pre game always stays the same though.

Mark time while you're practicing.
Mark L & R in your music so you know what foot to be on (this helped me so much my freshman year, when the music went from 3 to 4 to 5 and back to 3 to 4).

mark time all of the time never stop and have the cadians playing in your mind

Our director is pretty crazy.

She wants us...to play in a certain time...but have HALF of us march at a different time...

So that we get like...a pinwheel affect.

Another thing she snuck in...is a right foot step off in the middle of a song. Like...ARE YOU NUTS?


I think my MAIN problem (because I have many, believe me. xD) is going backwards and sideways.

Especially sideways. I can NEVER stay in a straight line. xD

In one part we do like..a circle but its in the form of "follow-the-leader"

So when I get to the curve I always make too sharp of a curve.
