bamboo knitting needles

My sister has just asked if its ok to take bamboo knitting needles onto a plane?

I am pretty sure ou can't take knitting needles of any kind on a flight,as they could be used as a weapon.x.

It used to be 'bamboo' years ago. I can remember my Mum buying them. Not sure if they allow any now. Mind you, they wouldn't be much worse than a sharpened pencil!
