I'm excited! We FINALLY got into the CR 14th floor for the night before the WDW marathon. We've stayed at all the other CL's except RPC, and have tried many times to get into the 14th floor, but there was never availability. Can you all fill me in on what to expect compared to any of the others? We have a king bed NS room, should I note the reservation for a MK view, or are all the n/s rooms on that side anyhow? Any tips or advice?

Thanks!

Anne

There are only 2 rooms with a King bed, they are on the MK side. Rooms 4911 & 4912. Two more rooms on MK side, one with handicap access and 1 with 2 queens. The 5th room is on the Bay side 4905 (our room). I believe they are all non-smoking.

The lounge is about the size of 2 rooms and has a double balcony. It has the BEST view of the fireworks with the soundtrack piped in. The lounge also has a big screen TV. You are free to change the tv channels. People rarely stayed in the lounge during our week, they'd grab some food & go. The food is excellent, and from the CA grill, and never looks "picked over".

The bathrooms are very large too. Toilet & sink in 1 room, tub & sink in the other. Lots of counter space. Huge closet, lots of drawers.

Enjoy!

What are the food offerings on the 14th floor?? And the room configurations?? This sounds like a place to research for our 2005 stay. Thanks!

Twinglemum - I hope BambiTamby doesn't mind , but she has GREAT photos of the CR 14th floor including some information on room layouts. See the link below. I'm sure she can stop by and give more information on food offerings. Our first stay is next year too!!!

The rooms are similar to the rooms in the tower & wings, only slightly smaller because the balacony is HUGE. 2 queens or 1 king, table & 2 chairs. No daybed or comfy reading chair. A fridge which is stocked daily with juice & soda. Large closet, large bathroom.

There are 11 suites and 5 rooms on the entire floor. A good sized lounge with a double balcony overlooking MK. The views are just spectacular.

The food is excellent. Breakfast, mid-day snacks, and hor'derves, dessert & cordials. The hor'derves come from CA Grill. Lots of choices. Also, cans of soda.

b/fast, different breads, fruits, cereals, oatmeal packets, etc. There is a toaster.

mid-day, sweets like cookies & bars, bags of chips, goldfish, soda's.

evening, raw veggies & dip, humus, crackers, cheese, crab ratton, fried ravaloi's, lamb chops, beef wellington, chicken wellington, shrimp scampi, etc.

dessets, cakes & lots of little "finger ones".

Plus pb&j & rice krispy treats (homemade, not boxed) for the kiddo's.

Kimberle - Thanks for listing a list of offerings. It's making my tummy growl. Looks like there is something for everyone.

You guys make me want to stay there...

Do you mind if I ask what the rack rate is or if what your discounted rate was when you stayed?

I think it was around $3500 for the week, 2 adults, 1 child.

Thanks for the great info. I have a 4 yr old and 1 yr old twins would we be able to stay there. I stayed at the Tower Club and loved it but wanted to upgrade to the 14th floor.

Anyone know what the occupancy rules are for the two king bed rooms? Will they book 2 adults and one child in a king room?

I'm wondering because it seems booking a king room seems to be a guarantee for a MK view.

WOW! That is wonderful, ducklite!!!!
Vagal posted my webshots link above, the CR floorplans and pics are near the bottom of the first page.
Very nice and exclusive concierge! Treated like royalty there!
VERY comparable to the BWI CL! But with the VIEWS and food from the CG!::yes::
Your room code should be CW, there are two of these and they both face the MK!

I found a 2 bedroom suite (Lake side) for the 8th and 9th, but we upgraded to the Pres suite at the Poly for our entire trip, so we took that!

(Wish we were staying there at the CR 14th though! They are so wondeful!)

lark...I know you want the MK view, but when I booked the two CY rooms, I knew one would be facing the lakeside.
And really, that's OK, because they have this HUGE TRIPLE sized BALCONY at the Lounge for your MK viewing access at any time!
So, you'll get the best of both worlds with the lakeside room!
They probably could put a rollaway for the child, but you would be a little cramped. The CW room is not as long as the other rooms, but they are a tad wider.

luv2trav...look on ourlaughingplace.com for the resort pricing.
$3500 is about right, before taxes for a CL room for a week at the 14th floor.

Hope this helps! And ducklite! I would love to meet you if possible!
We'll be close by at the Poly!

just wanted to make a correction that the food now comes from the concourse steakhouse.

WOW! When did that start, Cris?

Never got lambchops, duck, and shrimp scampi from the CS.

Well, anyways, the food is DELISH!::yes::

Thanks for all the help and information everyone! I'm glad the lounge is nice. DH will be going to bed early the night before the race, and it will give me someplace to watch the fireworks and read where I won't disturb him.

I'm really looking forward to this visit--we've been trying to get into the 14th floor for years now! I couldn't belive it when they told me there was a room available!

Anne

Thanks Bambi -- that may be good enough if we can go in the lounge whenever we want.

I really don't have a preference; actually, the pictures from the bay side look amazing. I do, however, have a train-obsessed child who is likely to have a meltdown if he knows trains are running in and out of his hotel, but he can't watch them!

Congratulations Anne!

Please let us know how it goes.

Have fun!

::yes::

We loved the 14th floor. We had a bay view and it was beautiful!! We watched the fireworks from the lounge. The staff was wonderful. It was a trip that we will never forget and I don't know how we will ever top it--but i'd love the chance to try!

it has been at least this year, according to the staff the California Grill did not have enough time. The only thing different is the kitchen for Concourse Steakhouse makes the food now.

Congrats on getting 14th floor, Ducklite!

We have also booked a standard room on the 14th floor for Dec. 2005. I'm a little concerned about room size now, based on some of the reports that the rooms are a bit smaller than the regular tower rooms?

For those who have stayed there, do you think it would be cramped for 2 adults, two toddlers (sleeping in regular beds) and an infant???

Thanks for any advice you can give!
