Baltimore Hotels

Since Red Sox season is fast approaching (I know, we have to have the Pats win the Super Bowl first!) we are planning a family trip to Baltimore to see the Red Sox. Does anyone know of convenient hotels for our family of 5? I would prefer a mini suite type of place but I'm flexible. Is the area around the stadium nice to stay at, or should we look elsewhere? THANKS DISers!

We've only stayed at the Hyatt which is right along the waterfront. There is a skywalk that goes from the hotel to the shops. They have numerous shops and eateries, although expensive, very convenient. Make sure to check out the National Aquarium. There is a hotel directly behind it and I'm drawing a blank on the name...Sheraton perhaps. I'm sure someone from Baltimore can help more.

i am from B'more and I think that the area is awesome! The Aquarium is a must if you have never been. It is the best. The science center and Port Discovery are also wonderful if you have children.

The hyatt is wonderful but pricey. Anything downtown is high in cost, so I think the price will be around the same everywhere.

Just a pointer, do not give money to the homeless. They will not leave you alone! We made the mistake and the guy KEPT asking for more money because he saw DH pull some out of his pocket to get him a $5. HE still wanted more! Never again!

I would really try to get to the aquarium. They also have a pirate boat that you can ride, a submarine, paddle boats and a boat the goes in water and gives you a tour and then drives out and gives you a land tour. It is really neat! Hope you get to try some of the local attractions!

We've stayed twice at the Brookshire Inn and Suites on Lombard. It is about 2 blocks from the inner harbor, and a nice walk from the ball park. The suites are nothing overly fancy--two rooms with a bath and a small fridge and microwave. Our rate included a full breakfast buffet, and was around $150 plus tax. There was valet parking, no self parking. There is also a McDonalds right across the street.

We love Baltimore. Our favorite day was spent at Port Discovery, which is a play area/science center, etc. created in conjunction with the Disney Imagineers. We spent the entire day there--from when they opened until they closed and kicked us out. We did leave for about 1 hour to go to lunch.

This is funny because I just posted about a Baltimore hotel!!

I just booked the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore on price line for $100 a night in april. Don't know anything else about any other hotels!

I went for several days last spring and stayed here:

It was beautiful and I got it for like $125 on Priceline. I thought it was going to be too far away from everything, but the water taxi is right outside the building. We never actually USED the water taxi, because it was a nice walk to everything, including the Science Center which is WAY on the other side of the Harbor.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

I'd recommend the Aquarium too -- although we didn't get to see the whole thing because my son ended up with a stomach virus and we had to leave.

I'm looking forward to going back.
