Looking for a weekend trip to the inner harbor for the aquariam and maybe a baseball game. Its me (mom) and my two preteen dd's so I need something comfy and safe. I would love walking distance to the baseball park and aquariam and maybe some nice restaurants etc?

Can anyone in the area or familiar with the area help me with some hotel suggestions?

If you have other suggestons - must see attractions or restaurants for a girls only weekend I would love to hear them as well.

Thanks -
TJ

A few years ago we stayed at the Renaissance Harborplace. Right across the street from the Inner Harbor, could see the aquarium, and a couple of blocks from Camden Yards. I think the kids were 4 1/2 and 9 at the time. Among a few other things geared to younger kids, we went to the Aquarium and walked to/from a baseball game. I remember thinking it was so cool to be able to walk "home" from a game - there were tons of people out and about, so I was comfortable and felt safe.

Several years ago, we stayed at the Brookshire Suites Hotel, and easily walked to the inner harbor, Camden Yards, etc. The hotel wasn't fancy, but was in decent shape with a living area, and a bedroom. Our rate included breakfast.

DD and I walked back from Camden earlier than DH, and I felt very safe.

The last time we went we stayed at the Sheraton at Inner Harbor. It was very nice and we walked to the Aquarium, it was a bit of a walk but not too bad. We also walked to the Hard Rock. We went to a Raven's game but I don't think Camden Yards was very far away, actually I think we walked by it to get to the Ravens stadium.

Says the aquarium is 1/2 mile and Camden is .2 miles

They hyatt at the inner harbor. Use hotwire for great rates.

As a country girl I forget about parking fees in the big city. When looking at hotel rates in downtown Baltimore don't forget to factor in Parking fees.

My suggestions is to check out the Inner Harbor shopping complex. DH and I stayed at the Hyatt Inner Harbor once after a Trans Siberian Orchestra show. We got a good priceline deal.

Now my fun story. We did not eat before the evening TSO show and were famished afterwards. The first place we found open to eat in the Inner Harbor that night was Hooters. What an adventure. My husbands eyeballs were almost popping out of his head. We were seated near the kitchen pick up area so there was a lot to see. I could have slapped him silly but my rule is he can look as long as he doesn't touch. A whole lotta looking was going on that night. Great food and great memories.

I hope you get a great deal TJ and have a great time.

I stayed at the Residence Inn - Inner Harbor for two weeks while my late husband was hospitalized at Johns Hopkins Hospital. While I wasn't there on vacation, of course, the location was just a block or so from the Inner Harbor and our accommodations were very nice. I had a one bedroom with a separate living room. The rate included a very nice hot breakfast and evening fare.

We usually stay at the Hyatt - you can often get good rates for the weekends.

We have stayed at the Days Inn Inner Harbour several times. I have to say, I'm not a "Days Inn" kinda girl, but this place was nice. It has a pool, and is in great location - walking distance from both the baseball field and the inner harbour. The only con about the place is the elevator - there are two, but they take FOREVER!! I've always found the cheapest prices at www.expedia.com for this hotel.

Have a great trip.

There is a new Hilton directly next to Camden Yards. I am sure they are hurting for business and you could get a decent rate. I would stay away from the Brookshire as that area gets gritty after dark. There are a few night clubs in that area that cater to the "thug"life. The Inner Harbor has been getting some bad press lately as young thugs are harassing people. There is now a huge police prescence on the weekends. The most Inner Harbor friendly hotels would be the Renaissance on Pratt Street, The Hyatt on Light Street and the Sheraton on Charles street. I would make a trip to Fort McHenry for the history. Also a walking stroll through Federal Hill and the Cross Street Market are nice. Also get a water taxi pass and you can visit many different places that may interest you.
