I'm thinking of joining Ballys Sport Club with DS16. We went over today and got the hard sell, did the tour and are going to go back on Sunday for a trial visit. Its a beautiful club, but my concern is the 3 year membership. Does anyone know if they have a shorter term membership since DS will be in college and I'll still be paying for him!! Any feedback would be appreciated!!

My son joined Bally (In Mass.) for the summer last year. Since he is a college student, we didn't want to pay for a whole year. It was a special program for students. He could go as much as he wanted for 3 months. I had to send a letter to Bally to notify them that we did not want to continue after that time but that's easy to do. The club was clean and had alot of nice equipment to work out on. He never had a problem.

Thanks Snowysmom!! I think I'll persue a 1 year membership. I'm sure they have to have something other than the 3 year!

I have a one year and haven't had any problems. It is actually pretty reasonable and they maintain the club beautifully.

Just make sure that if you do go ahead with the membership, you keep an eye on your mail after it expires. Back in 98, my membership expired and I got a BILL in the mail for another year of membership. They extended it and charged me without my permission. Took a while to get it straight. They are always sending me *come back* offers. I just got another one yesterday for $99 for one year. If they can afford to give me such a great deal now, why did they charge me $300 a year 10 years ago? I will never fall for a 3 year committment again. Even 2 years is a bit for a gym membership.

Thanks for the responses!! I've also found out that through my medical insurance I can get a month to month membership with the ability to cancel every month by the 13th. We go for the trial visit on Sunday so I'll be asking lots of questions. It appears that the only price he quoted me was the MOST expensive package!(do I really need a CD Rom to tell me how to eat!!) There are at least 6 different options that are less expensive. I won't commit for more that one year, but this month to month sounds interesting!!
