I have a young one trying to budget to buy a balloon (probably mylar) at Disneyland later this month. I know they are crazy expensive, but anyone know the current cost?

There are different ones. A few weeks ago the one i got was $12. depends if you get ones that light up or not.

Granted, they are expensive, but Disney has the best balloons ever, I have no idea how long they actually last, they always outlive our trip and we gift it to someone else. One lasted 3 weeks and was still perfect. Well worth the money! they are really cool balloons, we love the light up ones with the mickey head inside. They are a must buy on every trip to DL :)

Wow! Do the light up ones really last that long? I've always wondered. I thought they were latex so would fall flat quickly. If they last that long I may splurge for one for DD next trip.

Thanks for the info! It sounds like she'll be in budget and enjoying a Disney balloon soon... and maybe even enjoying it back home.

The old balloons that were made of latex lasted one day but the new balloons are made of clear mylar and they last for weeks.
I bought one for my grandson, the blue Mickey with the clear outer balloon and we tied it to the stroller for the week we were there, brought it home in the car and had it floating around the house for two weeks after. When it started to deflate I opened it, put a straw into the little hole on the bottom of the balloon and blew it up tight. It floated again. I know I am full of hot air but I can re-inflate balloons... lol

Lol...thanks for the info. Can't wait to get a light up balloon! Can you turn them off?

I wanted to toss out another option for you.

When you have breakfast with Minnie each person is given a balloon for free! It is a regular balloon with a picture of Minnie on it. At Goofy's kitchen they charged us $1 for a balloon. It was the same one as the breakfast but I think it had Goofy on it.

They lasted a few days. We tied them to the stroller and then let the kids play with them at the hotel. It was far more cost effective for our family and budget.

Perfect! We are already scheduled to have breakfast with Minnie, though I'm guessing this kid is going to be happy to use her hard earned cash for a mylar as well.

Another balloon experience to share... we had to check in a restaurant balloon (free from Goofy's kitchen then) for the Alladin show last year and it was lost. My distraught kid was thrilled when they presented her with a voucher for a mylar replacement. Which, by the way, is where this whole disney balloon obsession started. That one really did last an amazing long time.

Ours from Minnie's had black printing on them that rubbed off. They were kind of messy.

I don't know about the expensive ones, I haven't let my girls get one because I knew they were pricey and didn't want to deal with them in the car on the way home.

The balloons are great. We deflated ours for the trip home and still have them in case we want to blow them up again.

We've eaten at Minnie's and not been given balloons, altho we may have been offered and said no as we don't have small kids or a stroller to tie it to. :)

I was just thinking "what would we do with the balloon all day in the park" because my son is 7 lol.

Wonder if you could stop back in at the end of the day and get one since you'd have your CB button showing you were there earlier?

Yes! My mom always buys the light up balloons for my kiddos. (I cringe at the proce, but it's Grandma's tradition). You can turn them off and on easily. After a few weeks of it floating around the house, the light mechanism can be saved and used with any regular party balloons you have at your house... :thumbsup2

Just got back from our trip... the clear mylar balloons with the Mickey balloon inside are "only" $7. The light up ones were $12.

Also, we didn't get balloons at Minnie's, but we did see other tables with kids who had balloons. Probably just a hit or miss thing.
