10/18 Police have announced that the whole plan was a hoax and that they are pressing charges.

10/15 they thought there was a 6 y/o kid in this hot air balloon. turns out when it landed, he wasn't.

but now the question is, where is this kid?

I read about that over on the community board! :scared1:

I doubt he fell out.. so maybe he's hiding?

Wow I really, really hope that he's hiding and is found soon. :( This story is beyond sad. I'd like to believe he's hiding, but I don't know. =/

Supposedly he was in a box, attatched to the craft, and it took off.

The box was not attatched to the craft when It landed.

Fill in the blanks... =/

well from what i've read the only reports that they have that the kid was ever in the thing was that his brother says he saw him climb in before it became untethered. So I can only HOPE that the brother was wrong, or that the boy climbed out at the last minute of something!

what a crazy story!! hope the little guy is OK!

apparently he's been found at his house!
thank goodness he's safe!!

should be an interesting story to find out what happened!!
i wonder if he was ever in the balloon to begin with!
his poor parents must've been SO worried!

Thank goodness the child is safe, but don't you think maybe the kid or even the parents will get into trouble for this? :confused3

The kid might. I don't see why the parents would. They honestly thought their little boy was stuck in the balloon.

If I was the dad the kid would be in a crap-load of trouble.

Seriously? I think punishing my kid would be the last thing on my mind! If I had just found my 6 year old child who I thought had fallen out of a hot air balloon safe and sound inside the house, I think I'd just be SO thankful he's okay. This isn't some situation where the kid ran off from his parents in the grocery store.

I'd guess the reason the parents MIGHT get in trouble is because of the danger they may have put their kids through. But even then, they've been in the news and on T.V. about chasing hurricanes and stuff so you'd think if they were to get in trouble, it would've already happened. I wouldn't be surprised if some nut job tried to sue them or something though.

Did you guys read about the actual family? They seem like total nutcases to me.

Wow so I'm reading on the CB and they all seem to think it's a hoax...hmm it actually makes sense when you look at everything. They're already doing all these interviews, and they sound pretty robotic to me as I'm listening to them like it was all planned. Wow, if it's true then...just wow. :sad2:

I found it funny [not really funny, but you know what I mean xD] when at like :36 seconds the kid goes "I thought it was for a show" and then the family gets all quiet and the mom is like, awkwardly saying "no..."
I'm not saying because the little kid said it means it's true of course, but I have a feeling this story might drag on for a while. Seems pretty fishy. xD

It does sound really cheesy.

Plus, this family's been on television before..

All the more reason to get the attention.

I'm so glad that he's okay, but I do think the parents should take some responsibility. I can understand the fear and anguish they were feeling, but please pay attention to your kid! Even if he wasn't in the balloon, what if he was? What business does a 6 year old child have near a prototype balloon unsupervised?! I think the parents should pay for some of the services rendered. Seriously, they had ambulances chasing and the FAA tracking this thing down!

I just think this whole thing is suspicious.

It totally sounds like a scam.

I just watched 10 minutes of Larry King interviewing them, and the whole time, all I hear the dad say is "Ummmmmmmmm, ummmmm, ummmm"
