Balcony Doors Kid Locking

Our son will just have turned 4, and I wondered if there's a way to ensure he can't open balcony doors at Poly and Boardwalk in case we couldn't hear him after long days at the park. Are there any safety measures for this, or should we try to bring something to secure the door just in case?

The last several Boardwalk Inn rooms that we stayed in had French Door type of doors with a simple lock that you just twist to open. There was no "U" shaped security latch higher up like most of the sliding glass doors have.

Thanks. In that case, maybe I should get one of those kid loops to keep French doors closed or otherwise block it.

Not all Poly rooms have balconies... I think most 2nd floor rooms do not.

Thanks. I've requested 3rd floor, so hopefully we get that since we want to use it when awake. Do you know what style of door they use at Poly or if they have a high security lock? Thanks!

I forget the placement of the locks at Poly but I at the time I had a rambunctious 3 yr old. I know before we went I was concerned but after staying there don't remember being overly concerned.

Bring a bell and put it on the door. Whatever you buy may not be the door that it could be used on.

I don't know about the boardwalk but I know at the Poly there are thick curtains and a see thru curtain or there used to be and once that moves holy hell the room gets bright.

I am a light sleeper so I never worried about my kids.

Can you put something out for him and tell him when he wakes up before you he gets to play with it.

At the Poly there are two latches on the doors, one in the middle and one high up near the top. The top one is out of reach for most kids. I'd test that the top one is latched by closing only it and then seeing if the door opens. Then close both. I wouldn't be too concerned.

If I can recall, *I* had a hard time opening the doors at both places and I'm 5 foot nothing and 100 pounds. Not quite sure what a four year old could do.
