Just wondering if there are balconies at any of the moderate resorts. We like to have a spot to have our morning coffee :coffee:while DD is still asleep.
Thanks

I don't think so - the only outside area is by the front door which is the walkway for everyone to get to/from their rooms.

None of the moderates have private balconies. There are sidewalks running in front of the doors to the rooms. But those are public and both guests and housekeepers will be walking down them constantly.

I have been lucky enough on three occasions where I was able to pull my chair out at POR in the aisleway in the setback created by the location of the door.

Twice was facing the parking lot in a corner room in Acadian House. Once I was in a riverview room at Parterre Place where there were only four rooms on the end.

However, I made sure I only did it early in the morning or late at night, so as to not disturb Mousekeeping going through the aisleways.

This is probably the main reason we like the deluxe resorts. Our kids nap and sitting in a dark room during naptime isn't much fun. We're going to attempt a mod again. I'm requesting upper floor and taking our cheap camping chairs. We'll just have to move out of the way when mousekeeping needs through ;) Many rooms in the Swan/Dolphin have balconies are are priced similar to mods...but that doesn't work if you want a dining plan.

A balcony is something I really missed on our last stay at a mod (CSR) in 2009. I wake up earlier than the rest of my family. I ended up just going out and walking around the resort and sitting in the common public areas.

Some of the deluxe rooms also don't have balconies either, so if you do decide to do a deluxe room make sure you check that resort. For example, some of the rooms at the poly and contemporary only have false or juliet balconies.

This is a very good point. If all the rooms at a deluxe don't have balconies, I don't believe you can guarantee that you will get a balcony. Booked 1 night at Hard Rock Hotel at Universal last month and was surprised that that hotel has NO balconies.

We were three adults in a studio at SSR and the balcony was so small, we had to take turns sitting out there.

That's a bummer, especially when you're paying that much for a hotel. I was surprised to see that at Poly & contemporary. You'd think paying that much would guarentee you a balcony.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh.. but I thought it was kind of funny.. :lmao: "ok.. it's been 15 minutes, it's my turn!" or "today i get the balcony, tomorrow you get the balcony.." ;)

As stated above the Mods don't have balconies, but I thought I would share this. Dec. 2010 we stayed at CSR in building Ranchos 7B over looking the quiet pool. On floors 2,3, and 4 around the pool about every 3rd room had a "extension" in the walkway where you could very easily take the chairs out of your room and sit there enjoying the scenery without blocking the walkway or being in the way. Definately looks like it was built for this purpose. I only noticed this in the one building though.

Does anyone know the reason why mods don't have balconys?

Just makes a catergory of rooms that people may want to bump up too if they want balcony. Disney is pretty smart at building resorts and keeping amenities in line with pricing.

moderates= outside walkways, no balconies, limited transpo, no signature dining

if you want it they make you pay for it...........

PPs are correct - the higher up in levels you go, the more perks and benefits you get. All mods are motel-style with the exterior walkways and doors to the outside, so there wouldn't physically be a way to have a private balcony. Deluxes have interior walkways with an exterior wall where they have the balconies.

I don't really know where they would put them. All the mods are motel style with the walkways on the outside. The deluxes have interior walkways. It's just the way they were built. It does probably have something to do with the resort levels. If there was a Value or Mod with most of the same amenities as a deluxe, then why would anyone choose to pay the extra money?
To me it's much more frustrating that some of the deluxes don't have them with all the rooms.
