In my seemingly neverending attempt to decide upon and book our trip for Jan 09, I have yet ANOTHER question...

Are the balconies at both the GF & Poly private? If not, how are they set up? We will probably spend our DD's naptime and post-bedtime hours lounging on the balcony, so we need to know what we are getting ourselves into!

Most of the Poly rooms don't even have balconies. They have them on the 2nd floor, but not the 1st or 3rd. There's no guarantee you'd get one, although you can make the request.

Poly has private balconies on all third floor rooms and on second floor rooms in the newer buildings. It has patios with chairs on first floor rooms. They're private in that they're yours, but they're open if that makes sense, so you can walk straight from the patio to the grass.

Hey Tara. Well, their not really that private. At the GF they have both regular large balconies and dormer room balconies (rooms on the top floors that have high vaulted ceilings). The regular ones are big and open, and the dormer ones are smaller and private. So, I would request a dormer room for the privacy.

And most (not all) 2nd story rooms do NOT have balconies. So you would need to request a 3rd floor or a 1st floor for the patio. And their balconies are large and open.

I know that all Poly rooms do not have balconies/patios (either would be okay-- we just need SOMEWHERE to go)... what about the GF though?

Thanks, klofan... but they aren't shared balconies, right? I feel like the pictures I've seen look like there are dividing walls between? And the Lodge Tower rooms are completely private balconies?

Basically, I just don't want to be sitting outside and have my hotel neighbors right there beside me in plain view-- not that we are anti-social or anything-- but we love a little private time when DD snoozes! Just for some conversation and wine!!!

Balconies at GF or Poly are not shared. Both have a divider between each balcony. Yep, the Lodge balconies are completely private - those rooms are a bit smaller (or seem so due to the enclosed balcony) and darker because of less light due to the enclosed balcony. Some folks LOVE the Dormer rooms, but too 'cozy' and dark for me.

The only time we noticed our neighbors was when a cute little one streched his head up to see me when I was looking over the balcony while standing :) Not looking at their balcony!! LOL

Isn't planning fun!!! ;)

Okay-- a divider will probably work! And a stray head pop is completely okay with us-- my DD wlill probably do the same thing, in fact!

Yep and since the newer buildings comprise almost 40% of the rooms at the Polynesian, a large majority of rooms at the Polynesian have either a balcony or patio.
