Balance due before check-in????

I made a res w/cro on the phone (ROOM ONLY) got confirmation in the mail, it said:

Deposit due by 4/30/02 of (1 night plus tax)
Balance due 8/3/02 (remaining balance)-no add'l notices will be sent

We are checking in aug 24th- I NEVER had to pay before I arrived- I called today to leave deposit and questioned the balance due and the CRO agent said " we like to have the balance by 21 days prior". I asked if I could pay when I arrive and she said yes-

Question is: are they going to cancel res if I don't pre-pay by 8/3?? She said no, but I don't want to get there and have a problem.

Anybody have this in the past?

We had the same note on our ressies last year. We paid at check-in with no problem - I wish they wouldn't add that note, it's very confusing!

I got the the same note on my res the last two times. I called, and they said not to worry about it. I was slightly uneasy about it as I did not want my ressie to be cancelled.

Isn't that funny... I don't have that on any of my ressies... I have saved the last 3. I made my ressies for October on 2/11, and there was nothing indicating that any payment, other than the initial deposit had to be made prior to our arrival. Wonder what's up with that?
