Bakery?

I have a question for all of the experts. It is not really a restaurant question, but a food question.

DH and myself would like to find the best place to have fresh made bakery donuts. I believe years ago when we stayed at POFQ that there was a bakery either there or at Riverside. Can any of you help me with this? We are not interested in a sit down restaurant just a really good bakery.

There is a bakery in each of the Port Orleans food courts (FQ and Riverside), but I don't remember ever seeing fresh-made doughnuts in either.

The beignets at POFQ are quite popular, and are sort of like doughnuts.. maybe that is what you are remembering?

The cinnamin buns are the MK bakery are delicious and huge! There is also a bakery at the BW. Not that big on donuts but have good danishes/muffins.

Thanks guys. For some reason... I am remembering glazed donuts that were very tasty. We don't eat donuts very often either but always tend to do something a little different when we are at WDW.

I don't remember seeing fresh made donuts anywhere at WDW. They do have donuts at resort CS locations, but they're not made at the resort.

The only bakery that I know of on property is the Boardwalk Bakery. They may make donuts over there.

The Main Street Bakery DOES have glazed donuts, just not a lot of them. We had one during breakfast around 9:45 am there last June. A lot of their breakfast items sell out fast and are not replenished.

The donuts they served at the Tusker House buffet we could have sworn were Krispy Cream Glazed!

Oh, geez, how could I have forgotten about the Main Street Bakery!!!

They did have Krispy Kremes at some of the buffets for awhile, I'm not sure if they still do.

The Main street bakery is so good. Also there is a bakery on the Boardwalk.

Here's a photo of the glazed donut from MK Bakery along with an egg sandwich, french toast loaf (to die for! ) and yogurt w/granola. (this is not my photo found it on the snack thread)

This past Nov, we found Krispy Cream donuts at Tusker House in AK. I'm not sure if all the buffets have them, I've never really paid attention before. DH spotted them because they were arranged in a way you could't miss them. If they weren't original Krispy Creams, they were a darn good knock-off.

I've also heard that the YC Club Level Lounge servers Krispy Creams. Haven't stayed there yet, so can't confirm this.

I'm not a fan of the BW Bakery. It's over crowded and nothing tastes as fresh as the stuff coming out of the MK Bakery.

I'm probably going to get slammed for this, but I've seen the words Krispy Creams on here several times over the years and have always wondered what is so special about them? I don't think we have them around here, or if we do, I've never noticed them. We have alot of little drive through donut shops around here, but I had never heard of Krispy Creams until I got here on the DIS. I've also read something about Tim Horton's? What are they and why are they so special?

You live in the wrong area of the country for Tim Horton's. It is based out of Canada, so we have them in Michigan of course, but I had never heard of them when I lived in Oklahoma. Kind of like, in Michigan they have no clue what Braum's is. Tim Horton's has donuts, muffins, and other desserts. It also has sandwiches (breakfast and regular), soups, coffee, etc.

Tim Horton's and Krispy Creme are both ok, but I can live without either one as far as donuts go. And for them both, they go far in increasing the waistline.

Now the ice cap's at Tim Horton's that might be another story.

I don't remember seeing Krispy Creme in the southern states either, they go at least as far south as Iowa. They are usually in gas stations and grocery stores.

the last time I saw fresh made-at-WDW donuts at any Bakery on property was 2004. It used to be tradition for us to have at least one yummy donut breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery ... imagine our horror when we went back the following year and found that they weren't making dounts any longer but selling Krispy Kremes instead!

Blech!

Since we can't find a decent dount we stick with croissants or now and then pick up a massive cinnamon roll from the Main Street Bakery ... those still appear to be homemade.

I am not sure about this but I think I read somewhere that one of the water parks (or maybe both) have fresh made mini doughnuts. Am I right? Anyone have them before and which water park because I would love to try them?

Both Water Parks have the mini donuts. I've never had them before, I've been researching the water parks lately as this is the first visit to them with the kids.

I wonder if 1/2 dozen is considered a snack item?

Krispy Creme started in the southern part of the U.S. (for some reason I think North Carolina but I am not positive) - there are many stand alone stores known for a hot donut sign that lights up when customers are able to get the glazed donuts still warm (and amazing) right after glazing. I have never had a better glazed donut than a warm Krispy Creme. The product offered in Penn Station, gas stations and various grocery stores is not nearly as good as what can be purchased at a stand alone store. Our local store closed and is still being mourned.

We had a bus driver from DTD announce the Krispy Cream delivery schedule on the bus. It was hysterical! He knew all the deliveries to the gas station on WDW property. He had to be the funniest WDW bus driver we ever had!
