I was waiting in line to get into a friend's room...and it's one of those "go through the teleporter to get to the other side" sort of rooms...

so I get to the series of teleporters at 11:59 and go through...then have to wait behind a person.

I get in JUST as my computer clock hits midnight...and I don't even get a post in before it closes!

Well my night was filled with crashes and making me feel like I was getting pounded by wave after wave after wave.

So anyway, this is the reason for all my crashing lastnight. All 3 of the laptops running through the house are wireless. I use lynksys, because a friend that works for Ciso Systems informed me it was much better than netgear. That is neither here nor there, but to the point, I kept crashing over and over again. I don't think I can count on hands and feet how many times I crashed lastnight.

Also, I sue firefox as my web browser, because I am not a big IE fan. Again back on the topic. I would refresh my browser, and all of a sudden I get a new page telling me, "You are ready to install the Netgear wireless......"...Hmmm....So I survey the sight and I see my lynksys connection and my neighbors connection. I refresh my connection and attempt to refresh my web browser. I get the same message, and at the same time DD and DW start asking why they are connecting to netgear.

At the moment my neighbor calls and says...:"!@$~@ (In this words...lol) I just bought netgear wireless router and I can not connect to the internet.." He also explains..."I keep getting a message that diverdown is managing this I.P. Addy...." Well then my other neighbor, who also uses lynksys is freaking out because he keeps losing connection.

Back to my neighbor with netgear...I explain to him that my computer is diverdown and for some reason he is trying to connect to my IP addy which in a sense is knocking me off my wireless. I also disconnected the wireless card form DW's computer and link directy to the router, which still gives her the message that she is ready to install the netgear....

Everytime he tried connecting he would knock everyone off line, so I told him to return his netgear and get a lynksys and all will be good.

That was the issue in short....(Maybe the VMK train trolley will appear on top of his netgear...lol)

So much tech talk before I finish my first cup of coffee hurts my little Brain. Though I found it interesting that you had a nighbourhood sharing. Though I have no clue about wireless technology too confusing for the old and lame person like me. And after this post just shows it is still as confusing as I thought it was. LOL. Glad you know all about it, because I will know where to post when I finally make the leap to wireless.

Interesting post suferrat! We are crashing like crazy also. We run Linksys wireless and know there is a new netgear in the neighborhood that has no security (scary!).
