Bags to take in the parks?

I will be visiting Disney and Universal Jan 5-13 with my sons, who are in their early 20s. Since I know the weather can really vary a lot from morning to afternoon to evening during the winter, I'm thinking it might be good to have an extra bag, maybe a sling type backpack, with our ponchos and maybe fleece jackets depending on the weather. I will also have a cross-body Baggallini type purse with the more inportant items. Is it a big hassle to carry a backpack bag on the rides? Or do you usually find a locker somewhere and store it there?

I think most of the rides at Universal DO NOT allow bags and most have lockers at the begining of the ride for bags. these can be crowded and delay your wait times... when we go, we usually wrap sweat shirts around our waists. We hate waiting in those locker lines!

We are a tie it around out waist family too. No bags for us!! I would just have each guest carry their own jackets.

Thank you all. I think maybe I will reconsider the backpack idea. Are you taking only 1 coat per person, so not carrying both a sweatshirt or fleece and something for rain?

My park bag is normally very light backpack. One of those drawstring fabric ones where the drawstring becomes the straps if that makes sense.

I've yet to have a problem with it on a ride anywhere at WDW. If I think I might I usually just put it between my feet and loop the strap around my foot once or twice.
